A thought on TMV tier list

I'm wondering if the data might be biased. Consider Viper as an example. He's taking the win% on maps where she's played against other controllers (so usually not icebox/breeze bc everyone plays viper on those maps), but usually when she's run on say fracture, it's in a double controller comp. And I feel like teams that run double controller usually have better coordination and utility setups (like Fnatic for example), so it makes sense that they'd win more. It's kind of a reverse corralation. Just because teams that are better with utility coordination run viper + another controller, and teams that are better with utility win more doesn't mean that Viper is a better pick in general (especially for less coordinated teams).

yeah i thought the same way, the teirlist is still pretty good because stats do show a good amount f reality of the games. viper I think is a tier, but because she is such a great playmaker, I wouldn't disagree if somebody considered her s tier. Sova I think is s tier, but he put it in a tier(because stats)

True . Thats the big hole in all of statistics. Two things could seem directly co-dependent while being totally unrelated.
Its like my 2nd year probability and statistics professor once said, "If you were to go purely and blindly statistical, you could find a relation between the test scores and shoe sizes of students"

arguably every agent is good only with team coordination, you're much better off running astra with raze than astra with jett, same goes for jett, them being viable with certain synergies means that theyre good picks for maps, obviously if you just take 5 random agents from s tier on a map that wont be good, doesnt mean the tierlist is bad

My point was that becasue mainly coordinated teams (usually better teams) run her as a double controller, she looks better statistically. If more standard teams ran her, she would do worse. That's why her win% isn't entirely representative of the strength of the agent.

So Im not watching that video, but are those stats from ranked or pro play?

I honestly hate the concept of a "stats based" agent tier list. There's so many variables and things you may not consider in your process and could fuck up the whole thing. I'd much rather see a personal list from a knowledgeable person even if it may be a little opinionated. But then again, the stats one is going to almost always be opinionated as well depending on what factors you decide to consider

Yeah exactly. I think if you could get a group of pro players and do it based on map that would be a lot more useful. Like FNS/Boaster saying which agents they prefer on Ascent vs Icebox vs Bind, etc.
