WHAT THE FUCK POTTER COOKING?

posted 2 months ago

for real, it's VLR though don't expect smart discourse

the r/valcomp subreddit is better for that

posted 2 months ago

you can't actually call opinions objective bruh, there's no definitive answer

posted 2 months ago

three words: where are you?

posted 2 months ago

most interesting to watch for me probably has to be a great fade player like Shao, or if not then Raze bc she's so fun

posted 2 months ago

i would not expect anything smart from this guy

posted 2 months ago

i totally understand why people would pick G2 on that one, but in my opinion EG is being a bit underrated. we'll see soon enough :)

posted 2 months ago

prob not but i think people are underrating their chances to get to madrid... if LOUD plays NRG and EG makes it out of their group with first place, there's a real chance that they beat whoever won the playins (SEN, LEV or C9 most likely) to make it through to Madrid.

LOUD and EG
PRX and T1
FNC and Navi
EDG and Trace

Surprised at how close all the EMEA matches have been across the board. Even the 2-0s like FUT v Heretics and this match have been good matches, with good showings from all the teams. It doesn't feel like any team is clueless about what to do, and there's decent ideas on every map.

Definitely an improvement over last year

i mean who wouldn't

random flashes

aware

posted 2 months ago

yeah true but unless they reach international events this year i think they need a rebuild

posted 2 months ago

okay but LOUD is the most consistent team we've ever seen aside from maybe FNATIC... powerhouse in 2022 and 2023, looking to take a spot for madrid this year as well.

posted 2 months ago

spanish fans ig?

i mean its a fact that EMEA isn't as clouted as the other regions but still, the orgs are actually pretty decent and they have some of the best in the ecosystem (FNC, KC). I like that it's a more lowkey region in that aspect!

posted 2 months ago

nepotism in TS as well...

posted 2 months ago

i agree on your last point, but you can't seriously say that Demon1 and Aspas weren't instrumental in their respective team's runs.

Like, put a mid duelist in the place of those two and they're simply not beating the competition.

We'll have to see if the rest of the team can pull their own weight but holy shit your overreaction over a single map is so funny

posted 2 months ago

in regulation? for sure, dep dropped 42 when they went 21-19 against RRQ, and that's with 13 extra rounds. Imagine if it had gone to OT

posted 2 months ago

if not for Aspas, LOUD would not have won champs
if not for Demon1, EG would not have won champs
if not for Ardiis, NAVI would not have won against BBL today

what's ur point, you have an amazing star duelist who will win you maps. that's sometimes what you need

posted 2 months ago

yeah people are coping hard here

compared to playercards like GenG, LEV or even FUT which is unique and integrates turkish culture, SEN is just bad.

posted 2 months ago

M8's goes so hard with the neon green and purple.

posted 2 months ago

imagine a team using their opponent's classic skin when playing against them...

would be funny asf

posted 2 months ago

i think it'll be closer than you give them credit for, but tbh it could be either sen or lev

posted 2 months ago

nah it just looks chaotic bc it's BBL and NAVI aren't really in control of anything. double controller is usually played slow and methodic. which is what NAVI should have done, esp with the gekko clearing and reclearing. it felt like they weren't utilizing their comp to the fullest. we'll see how breeze goes

yes

hot take, LOUD and EG will make it to madrid. not really sure why except a gut feeling that LOUD will beat NRG in playoffs and EG will play SEN.

from the other regions:
-FNC and KC
-PRX and T1 (DRX loses to PRX in playoffs)
-EDG and Trace

honestly, i don't think deadlock should be buffed for proplay. the reason why i think this is the following:

obviously riot has different "styles of agents" for example

-dive duelists (neon, jett, raze)
-flashing duelists (phoenix, yoru)
-flash initiator (kayo, breach)
-recon initiator (sova, fade)

etc etc.

it's clear to me that the devs are obviously interested in each playstyle having at least 2 agents to choose from, and before deadlock was added, sage was the only reactive sentinel, made to stop pushes on the fly. this is very good for ranked play especially low elo but obviously not great for proplay since teams will just bait out utility.

so deadlock came into be an alternative to sage, and i'd say she's pretty good in the lower ranks, even if people don't pick her too often.

my point is, there will be some agents in the pool that will not really be viable for proplay and that's not necessarily a bad thing! look at reyna and iso, they are both the same type of duelist and they're nonexistent at the pro level. same goes for sage and deadlock, and i don't think there's anything wrong with that. so i don't think she needs a buff, she's pretty balanced in ranked play atm

he said my team is fucking mickey mouse dogshit compared to the best team ever

tf lmao? he just pointed out an observation about the way NRG played their first game, never said the OPTIC core was washed, even complimented them and said they were all really good players

how tf can ppl not take a little bit of differing opinion about their own team before jumping to conclusions

posted 2 months ago

trembo shaking

posted 2 months ago

lol you don't have to play skye on split anymore

posted 2 months ago

i feel like giants is a bit underrated, imo cloud will be the highlight of that team this year

posted 2 months ago

even tho i simp for Chaadhak he makes some throws a lot of the time, overpeeking or weird peeks with the judge.

otherwise cauan and less for sure, alfa is also a bit overagressive sometimes imo, Leo is better at not making mistakes

posted 2 months ago

i disagree on the NRG number 1 pick, they had some issues on attack especially and it felt like they weren't on the same page all the time, unlike LOUD. i would swap those two and swap C9 with SEN, but otherwise list is valid tbh

posted 2 months ago

saving strats in a masters qualifier? that's some next level copium lmao

if you saw most pro teams are actually just playing 2022 comps for breeze anyways

posted 2 months ago

literally my own pickem except EG lmao

For now yeah, I think the first map was pretty decent but the last two have been very brawly and not very strategic.

But we'll see what happens in the coming days, still lots to be played for!

my thoughts on the 4 VCT americas matches so far:

NRG looks pretty good, still quite a few holes in their attack especially but that's to be expected for a new team. Ethan is looking as good as last year, his supportive util is amazing.

Furia isn't as shabby as I thought, but their ideas seem to be very basic and relying a lot on Mwzera to get the opening kills. If he gets first blood, they win the round. If not, they lose. Easy counter is to shut him down.

C9 looked worse than the offseason in my opinion, underwhelmingly mid. Vanity calls and ideas are not very fleshed out (gekko + fade on lotus felt very disjointed especially), but Oxy obviously the highlight of the team and carried them to a win.

MIBR was better than most people think, I'm personally not surprised that they were on par with C9. They looked pretty structured, biggest issue imo is the lack of firepower (ITS A GUN GAME!) but in terms of discipline and midround ideas, they looked decent (probably thanks to Frod and Bzk giving that to the team, plus no internal issues)

Sentinels honestly looked good even though they lost 2-0, first map especially was really close and they had really good ideas and awareness of what was going on. Biggest problem for me is that they seemed a little surprised when LOUD did a midround push, or an agressive play on the defense. But easily reigning that in, I can see them make their way through the lower bracket. Not lacking in firepower.

LOUD is looking amazing, not unexpected to me. Chadhaak cooking on both maps was crazy, especially Ascent. Although both comps have issues and I feel like if antistratted correctly they can be countered, but there's no guarantee that they will play any crazy comps again, and they may come with improvements next time. Overall though, the team looked really good with coordinated fights, everyone on the same page.

Leviatan, same as NRG tbh. Aspas is firing on all cylinders, the team has some pretty neat ideas. But their coordination especially, looks pretty off for now. Especially that Split map, very dissapointed the Sova pick had nothing backing up, no interesting set plays or cool ideas. The entire map looked like a ranked game. If Lev can avoid that, they'll be good. Just do "Aspas go kill" strat tbh.

100T is the weirdest of all, def better than at the end of last year but that's not a high bar. Boostio is def a very good addition and on top of gekko cosplay he brings energy and confidence the team needed for sure. Just not sure this team has the synergy to execute the ideas Zikz may bring to the table just yet. The execution of everything seems off, like they're not on the same page. But maybe it'll improve with time.

Anyways, feel free to drop your own takes in the comments, I'm interested to see what y'all think of everything we've seen so far! The meta is def in a very interesting place, so many different ideas.

who is your favorite bald person number_1_cNed_fan?

posted 3 months ago

it might be the time for yoru meta, i might be super tmv pilled but i genuinely think he's the best option for a couple of maps

posted 3 months ago

yeah he still isnt obviously broken (but thats a good thing imo)

just good enough to be playable on certain maps like icebox, lotus and ofc bind

posted 3 months ago

i think it's in the most interesting place it's ever been.

double controller is still potentially viable, just not the clear best option like it used to be on so many maps. now you have a choice of running it with a skye or no flashes, or potentially even recon + yoru. the other alternative is going back to double ini, or even experimenting with gekko or yoru.

i'm very excited to see what teams cook up, especially teams like LOUD, NRG and Fnatic. overall, the changes to skye were needed and honestly pretty good

posted 3 months ago

i think the buff was more quality of life things. the essential abilites are fine so theres no reason to make it more annoying by having the headhunter cost so much

posted 3 months ago

47 kills just to lose is CRAZY. ggs though

posted 3 months ago

i mean you can say this of other teams that dont have a 6th man, the chance of one of their players being unable to play is just as likely for them too.

it's not that big of a deal imo
