so in ranked, if you plan to play during a match in your region, you must be prepared to play a lower quality game than usual. this is a two pronged theory

1. The player who play are less passionate: The players who watch a ton of pro play wont be playing as they will be watching per chance. This applies mainly to higher ranks but can still be true in lower ones. It does not apply to below plat/diamond tho, as those ranks dont have passionate players ever. The player in games during the pro matches will likely be; lower level, lower rank, lower passion, and less likely to warmup, pick good agents and care about the outcome.

2. The pro players and streamers cant play the games: Most streamers are higher ranks because its their job to play valorant, but they also watchparty the games. Pro players and streamers cant get into your games meaning that the stream snipers are nerfed, and so are the lobbies. During pro matches in high ranks where there are pros and streamers often, you will instead recieve a lobby of many randoms who dont have an online presence.

All in all, these games will have less comms, worst comps, worse aimers, and less crutches for players.

I didn’t even make any posts when up 11-3 because I know I can never trust this team. This year they throw so many leads, even when they won maps they almost threw them. This team is young and made up of chronic chokers who fall apart regularly. 11-3 choke is genuinely insane, 11-3 to 11-13 like wtf?

Am I in a simulation where my wits are stretched by making me a fan of the most difficult team to watch? One week the worst team in the league destroys us, the next week we take an insane lead against a prestigious team and then commit one of the worst throws ever.

The way we lose is uniquely tragic. Some teams lose cause they’re worse, some teams lose because they can’t close games, we lose in every possible scenario each week, I cannot possibly imagine what will happen every time we play, I just know each time that it will be painful and tragic

More and more since 2023 we are seeing igls shift towards initiator roles, going off of the traditional smokes and sentinels.

Redgar went from by far worst gx player as omen map 1 to by far best gx player as kayo map 2.
Ange1 has been playing great valorant this year on initiator roles, he did this at champs too and played better than he does on smokes.

Initiator is the most important role to have good util and coordination. Sentinel is the least important. I believe that sentinel is the worst role for an igl as it’s a role that requires a good amount of aim and is the easiest util to coordinate. An igl being on sentinel disconnects him from the team, being a lurker is not good for the IGL as they don’t see what the other 4 do. I think FNS mentioned this before despite him being a sentinel IGL.

Then you have controller/initiator/duelist.
Controller is decent but again, most of the utility is simple to coordinate, it’s mostly timings. Viper wall up, viper wall down, it’s very simple.

I think duelist igl could actually be really good, it’s just that most good igls have worse aim. Also igling takes away from aim performance again which is why the slightly more aimer roles (sentinel and duelist) are kinda bad for igl. Quiet players with good aim are best for these roles. Aspas for example, he’s very quiet which lets him focus on aim.

Final duelist igl point: historical attempts at igl duelist failed because it’s rare for a player to fit this archetype. Scream duelist igl failed not because it’s a duelist igl, but because scream is a bad igl and not a great duelist.

Initiator is the least aimer role, it’s the most important and hardest to coordinate with teammates, it’s not just timing like smokes, not just accuracy like duelist, but everything all at once. Having your igl be able to play the initiator role lets your team be much more cohesive and have clearer comms.

All in all I think initiator is the best role for igls and it should be seen more, especially less sentinel igls. We have also seen Saadhak leaving the sentinel and playing more initiator, on top of ange1 and others
