EMEA means Europe, Middle East and Asia. CIS means Commonwealth of Independent States (post soviet countries basically) it doesnt have much meaning tbh, Ukraine is not a CIS member state but they are considered CIS in gaming so CIS is basically russian speaking countries, and it differentiates from EMEA in CIS is a part of Europe, its not EMEA because of Russia and Turkey but because there is a spot in Last Chance Qualifier for an arabic team, EU in Valorant is basically (Riot is at fault for calling it EMEA to turkey+cis+eu tournaments instead of just EU and calling the "EU" qualifier just EUW since teams that play in EU qualifiers are basically Western European teams, you americans always get confused. Just call it all EU, EMEA is just a stupid term that should only be used for Last chance qualifier or not used at all. If you ask any Russian or even gambit players they will say they are from EU not fucking EMEA lmao, so basically CIS is just a part of EU, it has always been like this, no1 says NaVi are a CIS team in CSGO, they are EU

I dont think so, its only called EMEA because on EMEA LCQ there is a slot for Striker Arabia winner thats where Middle East/Africa comes from not from CIS/Turkey, I guess they have their own qualifiers for ping reasons/turkey has inmense player base and viewership so it would be stupid to make them play in european qualifiers and most likely lose all that viewership and CIS has always had their own qualifiers in every game, like isnt NaVi a EU team in CS? CIS is kinda of a region within EU region
