That’s actually not an accurate statement so here’s how the ban/pick works in grand finals/ bo5 matches.

1. Upper bracket team chooses to become Team A or Team B
2. Team A bans a map
3. Team B picks the first map
4. Team A picks the second map
5. Team B picks the third map
6. map 5 decided
   So considering the fact that upper bracket team gets to decide whether they want to ban a map or take the first pick of a map is a good enough advantage IMO.
