i’m not a fan of either team, but i agree with you and am not sure why everyone is giving hate. t1 won and deserved that win, but one win doesn’t always decide who will be better next time. “but they proved it right there” didn’t g2 also prove it by not losing in the first round of playoffs? by not losing in kickoff? i think if they faced off again, there would be no clear favorite.

that being said i get it’s funny to give hate to someone who might be saying this just because he’s a g2 fan. but a 2-overtime 5-game win, even with the map advantage, doesn’t say anything about their skill difference

so this format is the same as a regular double elim with 1-4 seeds, except the 1st seeds are given an automatic win against 4th seeds. although i agree in your contrived example this may seem like a lot, usually 1st seed will have 2-3 more wins than 4th seed, so they sort of deserve the free win? i can easily come up with an example where fourth seed goes 1-4, and then only two wins (3-4 total) and they make masters, which seems just as bad as your example.

you're right, i have in fact met someone who thinks dumb, stupid, etc. are all slurs and should not be said! (i am from a pretty liberal place, so bound to happen). i personally think the "history" of words should never be a criterion for slurs, just the way it is used today. so if people think the r word is primarily a slur today, i'll comply, but i think dumb and stupid aren't even about people half the time ("that was so dumb", "this game is so stupid"), so calling these slurs would be bad.

a story about computer architecture: they used to use "master"/"slave" to discuss a particular type of interaction between machines. but recently, they have switched to "master"/"worker" because of the connotation of "slave", which i can understand. but a class i took decided to switch to "controller"/"worker" because even the word "master" has connotations of slavery, which i don't understand - i don't care if it originated from slavery, 99% of the time today it is used for other things (mastery of something, kinky reasons) and it's lost its old connotation.

i guess my pov is, i haven't done huge research into the usage of any slurs, so i have to listen to what society tells me. and since the r word has very easy alternatives, i have no issue trying to switch to other ones.

if an underrated team gets 4th seed, they aren't very underrated right? it makes underdog stories less likely in playoffs, sure, but more likely in the group stage

and since 1st / 2nd and 3rd / 4th seeds get different advantages in playoffs, every match will still matter
