It doesn't matter if it helps them cast better or anything, but shortening names like saying "spike" instead of "spikezin" for Leviatan's spikezin is absolutely insane. It is disrespectful in every nature: to the sport, organization, and player.

By erasing half of people's name, commentators aren't just being lazy; they are stripping away the explicit cultural nuance and personal intent behind the brand. A player's IGN is the focal point of team merchandise and the anchor for multimillion-dollar marketing campaigns. When commentators refuse to articulate these full names, they are actively damaging that player's brand equity and diminishing the organization's commercial value simply because they lack the breath control or verbal discipline to pronounce a few extra letters

Even during years where they didn't win, teams like FNATIC, TH, FUT, and others have remained competitive against the world's best. A region doesn't become 'the worst' just because it loses a grand final or gets knocked out in playoffs. If anything, consistently placing teams in international playoffs shows a healthier competitive ecosystem than regions that rely on a single superstar team carrying their reputation.

Another thing people conveniently ignore is that EMEA has historically been one of the deepest tactical regions in VCT. Half the metas that end up spreading worldwide originate from EMEA teams experimenting first. The region is constantly producing new talent and rebuilding contenders after roster changes. Meanwhile, some regions have periods where one dominant team farms everyone domestically while the rest of the region struggles internationally. If a region can continuously replace players, coaches, and systems while remaining relevant internationally, that's a sign of strength, not weakness.

The funniest part is that people act like EMEA has been getting eliminated in groups every event. They haven't. If EMEA had won one grand final in the last couple of years, the exact same people would suddenly call them elite again. That's not analysis; that's trophy counting.
