berlin format imo, round robin is also good but it's a lot of games

seven to champs? pausechamp?

tbh tho i don't think he's ready, he's more of a long term investment in that he'll be top of tier 1 in a few years

true, I honestly think if Guild moved bonkar to coach/analyst and found a cracked swedish aimer they'd be top 5 world

gambit makes it to the finals but doesn't 3-0, if they win it's 3-1 or 3-2

rip, no mwzera on lan again. Like usual they found a way to choke the important games

this is the worst part "lol i was just mad mb" what a lame apology

it wasn't beating KR that put VS second, it was VS 2-0 Acend and their 2-1 loss to Gambit (the program sees a 2-1 as a much "better" loss than a 2-0)

as for SEN see #11 and #8

mainly it's because I only include Berlin and challengers final playoffs in the dataset (and berlin results were given more weight). If I included all of Stage 3 results SEN would be 3rd.

uncertainty basically decreases when teams have more data against most other teams around their strength. Liquid's uncertainty is so high, for example, because they haven't played any NA or KR teams.

The list is based only on Berlin, LCQ and the last stage of Berlin quals. SEN did good in quals but choked hard at Berlin which is probably why they're so low.

If I include all of Stage 3 in the data SEN is 3rd, but I don't think that's fair as the goal is to represent where teams are based on current performance. Maybe SEN choked, or maybe they just fell off, it's really hard to know

----- Team ---------------------------- Elo +- uncertainty (map win rate)

  1. Gambit Esports ------------- 512 +- 107 (76%)
  2. Vision Strikers --------------- 468 +- 156 (77%)
  3. Envy ------------------------------- 391 +- 116 (65%)
  4. Team Liquid ------------------- 390 +- 165 (71%)
  5. 100 Thieves ------------------- 377 +- 117 (57%)
  6. Acend ---------------------------- 360 +- 118 (50%)
  7. Sentinels ------------------------ 329 +- 117 (60%)
  8. Guild Esports ----------------- 320 +- 151 (65%)
  9. G2 Esports --------------------- 307 +- 102 (58%)
  10. SuperMassive Blaze ------ 257 +- 113 (47%)

So according to a mathematical view of the LCQ results (and Berlin), Liquid is now 2nd best in EMEA and 4th in the world. Thoughts?

edit: 31. Team Vikings ------ -245 +- 207 (50%)

you can't say that CIS + EU + TR = EU, it just doesn't add up (the definition is CIS + EU + TR + MENA = EMEA)

why riot does it like that, idk, but they do, and as it is CIS and TR have separate qualifiers from EU. There's nothing wrong with saying EMEA though. And if you're from EU, there's nothing wrong with being proud of Gambit

posted about 2 years ago

"NOTE: the ratings are based ONLY on Berlin and Berlin qualifiers, NOT LCQ. That's why teams like Liquid are low."

I attempted to find the top 10 players at berlin mathematically from their K/Ds against every other player. The results:

Player (Elo)

  1. yay (88 +- 34)
  2. nAts (77 +- 32)
  3. Chronicle (77 +- 34)
  4. sheydos (68 +- 34)
  5. cNed (68 +- 36)
  6. nitr0 (66 +- 40)
  7. TenZ (63 +- 35)
  8. MaKo (62 +- 51)
  9. d3ffo (59 +- 33)
  10. BuZz (56 +- 46)
