not a single person playing truly cares about the "honor of winning the ewc"

the only reason teams are showing up is because they are being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to attend with millions in the potential prize pool for the organization, meaning there is no prestige in the tournament. There is incentive to win, with the money.

However, I guarantee you not a single team would show up if the money was not there, regardless of the human rights abuses. There is literally no reason to show all of your strats before the SPLIT TO QUALIFY TO THE BIGGEST TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR in an OFFSEASON TOURNAMENT, other than just the ridiculous amount of money being put up for orgs to force their teams to show up.

This could, and will, negatively impact many teams in terms of rest before split 2, and I would expect most teams who went to toronto, showed their strats, went to ewc with no rest, showed more strats, and are pulling up to split 2 to do much, much worse than we expect of them, especially in a game that is so anti-strat heavy as valorant.

prestige != competitiveness

champs is theoretically less competitive than masters 1 or 2, due to the selectiveness of teams which makes the competitiveness of each game higher

this does not equate to people caring more about masters 1 than champs

using this logic, you can have "competitive" games at ewc, but if no one gives a fuck about the trophy, it is not held with prestige on the line
