It all comes down to the fact that VCT is not a pure meritocracy. You aren't getting paid purely based on skill. It's on the value you generate for the org. Riot made GC and pumps a ton of money into it so GC players by virtue of being GC players generate value for their orgs so they get paid as such. Teams like SR also have close to 0 competition so they can farm the lions share of the prize pool/value generated so they can pay accordingly.
Some orgs just love to watch money burn ig.

Even for T2, it gets bad viewership for a level of gameplay that's way higher than GC. People just mainly watch T1 and mostly if it's their team playing.
