Dude. Look at hobbit now. 6 months ago anyone would say that he is shit, old and will not make anything great in cs. And boom he won a tourney yesterday packed with top tier teams and he was not a bottom frag, far from it. Almost all these ex/current top tier players/teams have enough skill to make it to the top if conditions are right. You need to somehow unleash it. Thats why teams in the lower end of top 20 become top 5 team in six months. And thats why you must be absolutely dominant if you want to stay on top for longer time like astralis or liquid did.
