going back through the game and I think stunner has genuinely figured out what potter did 3 years ago and how to best use Demon1's skillset

a lot of rounds you see Demon1 seperated from the pack but not in a way that I would call lurking because he's not going deep through enemy spawn and getting massive flanks

rather he is doing what I'm gonna call "controlling intermediary space" and just hanging out somewhere like in mid or tree for example (watching ascent attack side rn) where he just waits or maybe gets on a bit of a deeper angle in areas where like 2 people at most will ever contest him, but it's usually just him and one other guy (this is especially strong on chamber but also a good playstyle on astra, jett, and omen, and oh would you look at his agent pool)

then, when that one guy goes to check that space it becomes an isolated 1v1 scenario where demon1 can completely maximize his aim because there are no other factors to account for when it's just him and one enemy is an area outside of the bombsite

this is what worked on EG and what made him "the new king of hell" and ENVY are doing it again. it especially helps that his hard entry duelist (fromerly jawgemo, now keznit) is actually good again so he has less pressure to leave the intermediary space early

TL;DR: Demon1 is being allowed to kinda lurk but more just hold space like he did in 2023 and it lets him fry people with his unreal aim and it's a really good sign for ENVY going forward

somehow MIBR vs ENVY has become maybe the premier rivalry in all of VCT Americas, from the kickoff game with the Verno 1v4 to the stage 1 mibr beatdown and then the stage 2 envy beatdown, and now a bettle for a playoffs spot. never in a million years would I have expected this to be arguably THE americas matchup but here we are
