Lev kicking Goked was another big L of the org
I appreciate your honesty. Once again, thank you very much!
I preferred to use Primmie because he is a young emerging talent and a much more recent case. I also think having a world title carries more weight when using someone as a reference.
Demon1 didn’t even get 30% of the hype that Primmie did, though. In his case, I believe it's more about his decline in gameplay rather than his overestimation.
I have total respect for Primmie, who is a great player. His future is bright. I'm just taking and using him as the theme of a problem that frequently occurs in our community.
Thank you very much!!
I don’t doubt that Primmie has great knowledge of FPS games, especially VALORANT, but even so, I don’t think it’s ideal to place such a heavy burden of knowledge on someone so young, especially in VALORANT, where we have an entire system of roles and how each one should behave.
I'm not really a fan of Frosty...
Thank you very much!!
I wanted to know from you, as a Talon fan, if there’s anything you’d like to say about something I may have misunderstood in this whole story regarding Primmie’s rise in the competitive scene.
In my opinion, more than anything, Primmie is a hostage to a weak coaching staff and a team that doesn’t do justice to the player he is and has the potential to become. Even so, I have high hopes for him;
he seems like a very kind and pure-hearted person. Wishing him the best moving forward. #GoTalon
Introduction
The competitive esports scene frequently witnesses the meteoric rise of players who quickly capture the attention of the public and media. However, this early acclaim can be misleading, leading to unrealistic expectations and, consequently, immense pressure on the player. The "Primmie Theorem" seeks to formalize this observation, analyzing how players can be overestimated after a short period of exceptional performance.
Definition of the Theorem
The Primmie Theorem states that:
"Players who achieve high recognition very early tend to be disproportionately overestimated, resulting in unrealistic expectations about their long-term performance."
This phenomenon is fueled by various factors, including the immediate impact of initial performances, the hype generated by social media, and the audience and media's need to find "the next big talent."
The Primmie Case
Papaphat "Primmie" Sriprapha is a classic example of this phenomenon. After dominating the Asian ranked scene and making an impressive debut for Talon Esports, he was quickly elevated to the status of one of the greatest players in VALORANT history, despite having played only a few official competitive matches. However, his subsequent performance did not sustain this narrative, and he failed to meet the disproportionate expectations created around his name.
Factors Contributing to Early Overestimation
Exceptional Initial Performance: A player who immediately stands out captures attention and may be seen as a phenomenon, even without a statistically significant sample size.
Premature Comparisons: These players are often compared to legends in the scene with already established careers, creating unrealistic expectations.
Hype from Social Media and the Community: The enthusiasm of the community, combined with the impact of social media, amplifies player recognition in an exaggerated manner.
Media Narratives: The media tends to create compelling stories to engage the audience, and the sudden rise of a talent perfectly fits this format.
Pressure and Self-Expectation: The player themselves may internalize these expectations, which can affect their confidence and long-term performance.
Implications of the Theorem
The Primmie Theorem suggests that early overestimation can have negative impacts for both the player and the community:
For the player: Unrealistic expectations can create psychological pressure and affect future performance.
For the team: Dependence on an emerging talent can compromise team cohesion if the player does not meet projections.
For the community: The creation of instant idols can lead to constant cycles of disappointment and exaggerated criticism.
Conclusion
The Primmie Theorem highlights the need for a more cautious analysis before crowning new talents as legends in the scene. While a player may have a brilliant start, consistency over time is the true indicator of greatness. Avoiding premature overestimation allows for healthier player development and a fairer, more balanced competitive scene.
Governor still having an opportunity in Tier 1 is insane to me. He's not even a mid player, just straight-up bad. I don’t know, man. Even in EMEA T2, we already have some insane players. I think Apeks was just lazy.
You could just look at the stats and pick the top 3 players leading in Rating and ACS. I remember last year, Xenom and Cortezia were leading both of those. People used to say that Xenom had insane numbers only because he was playing in a weaker team. Nobody believed they were ready for tier 1, but look where they are now.
Importing Brazilian players is easy as hell. The majority of them already have a decent level of English. The Euro has six times the value of the Real, so it's also cheap. The only thing they need is a good coach.
poor lewn, hes gonna end the series -20
Neon probably has the best feet OAT
frod said that Verno received an offer to be an IGL in EMEA.
FNS is really a bum LOL
That's real as fuck, his miserable facial expression makes my day worse.
Brazil lacks talent in roles we truly need abroad (IGL and Flex).
We do have great names today, but most don’t get opportunities either due to age or lack of experience. It’s easy to say changes should be made, but deciding who should be replaced is the real problem. Pancada? Still one of the best in his role. DG? The only one truly performing. Cauan? A great player who lacks a solid system to shine.
Tuyz is just a stepping stone for LukXo, while Vinny is there purely because of the org’s madness—he was never an IGL and has always been a below-average player. The most obvious replacement for him would be Urango, but since he’s very young, Loud doesn’t believe he could handle such a heavy responsibility—and they’re wrong.
I don’t even need to mention HC STK.
Sacy watch parties are actually W. My favorites are from the NRG games. Sometimes, he simply refers to FNS as 'GOAT' and cheers for him. The round always ends with FNS whiffing, and Sacy almost passes out laughing.
these scrims against sen are looking good
Cauan is safe, the kid has already made a name for himself, but Tuz was flamed for that and much more. Saadhak just didn’t have the guts to make a decision. In the process of making himself a scapegoat, he became a coward for not wanting to win
I don't think so, Saadhak was just a human drone, and Tuz was just not feeling it. Less had already gained experience in the past and publicly said that he wanted to play duelist on the team in that occasion. Less would probably be more of a passive duelist, but QCK was also, and that wasn't a problem. For me, it would work just like it worked for Alfa.
yeah, its kinda sad you know, he clearly just need someone to hold the reins
btw, i really wanted to see less playing duelist last year, moving tuyz to senti would fix a lot of problems
yeah, the comps that he makes are too based on making plays with combined skills and setups, but after 2 matches those ideias become obsolete by anti strats, but we have to appreciate the hustle ngl
Engh and Saadhak need to chill, they are cooking too much, the ideia is cool, but is lacking proper execution. These types of comps need teams that are 100% in sync, which is clearly not the case here
In my opinion, they need to make some roster changes for Split 2. EMEA has amazing T2 players, and if they manage to pair them with Saad and Engh, they could do some damage
Loud 2024 rooster with him playing neon is better than this KC rooster, they are so shit
Actually paying for his sins.
NAVI 2-1 FNC
TL 2-0 M8
FURIA 1-2 NRG
KRU 2-0 SEN
2x1 F4T
Nah, but judging by your projection, you might wanna check your own search history.
Insane how people can be so dumb and disrespectful in these replys. Omg, y'all are scum
Omg, as if being shockers last year wasn’t enough, this year the idea is being washed.
I'm sorry, but Shaiiko is not better than half of the Brazilian cores out there, and ZywOo isn't individually the GOAT. Maybe if s1mple didn't exist, we could make that statement.
In the valorant Val scene, in my opinion its based on the fact that you guys do not have a big french only core, and looking further in the EU val scene its not look like its gonna happen sonner, Gentle mates are so bad that make do not believe in you guys anymore
Are you sure you want to talk about players? Like, shaiiko was slapped by Brazilian players two times in a row now. ZywOo has fewer Majors than FalleN and coldzera in terms of trophies.
And, like, Brazil is bad in LoL, so I’ve got nothing to say + Zen is actually goated.
Also, name one thing a French player has done in Valorant. You guys aren't even better than Thai by now, you know.
I'm afraid that he's gonna be so ass playing this 💔, lets pray
Just put him on Senti and let the man hold an angle. it suits his playstyle better than playing Smokes.
Stopped at E-sports, insane copium
Apac fans in the comments are so delusional, omg
Could suit Yay playstyle ngl
You say that as if France was better than Brazil in something
