This shows how the game is more about consistency and adaptability than just be good. Imo g2 was the most deserving winner. However, it was nrg that showed consistency.

Say g2 is clearly better than 80% of the playstyles and hence the dominant wins. Whereas nrg was at par against 100% of the playstyles, exactly why a lot of their wins were not dominant (unlike g2). NRG adapted to the drx yoru-waylay on the go, it was by far the strongest combos and synergies I have ever seen in 5 years of watching valorant. G2 had time to prep, and vods of nrg vs drx, yet they failed to make it even close

Though there is no way to measure composure but nrg has to be the most composed team for 2025, no matter what the situation their comms and energy were EXACTLY the same throughout (I highly recommend watching their voice comms videos). A possible reason could be that they were already in the dumps and had nothing to lose, but all to gain - they never feared losing. Whereas, g2 already had a reputation to maintain, even a thought of losing would have caused a huge disappointment.

As far as keiko is concerned - I strongly feel that he is an upgrade over s0m.

All-in-all, even if there is a team that can defeat the world champions, it does not strip the latter of their title. The only reason they fail to maintain the hype would be because of getting outstrated, but I still believe that they will cook up something different and remain their usual selves.

YALLLAAAHHHHHH!

cane plays decent neon and raze. Demon1 is not even close.

posted 6 months ago

wait actually?!
Sinatraa can't jett that is for sure. Plus keeping him off sova would be criminal.

posted 6 months ago

There is no way demon1 replaces cane. Egg has been playing Yoru well so he'll continue the same. Add demon1 and your agent pool dies.

Edit: Flor filling cane's spot would be hella good.

posted 6 months ago

I dont think it was between demon1 and sinatraa, in that case they would not have a proper jett player. He was trialing for the same spot as crashies as ini and he could also play part-time duel like raze that was victor. The issue was that victor and crashies came as a package. He woud've been the EG jawg to EG demon1.
I would've loved to see that.

posted 6 months ago

Why does he have to buy an AWP or Outlaw every chance he gets, it was a complete shitshow anyway?! There were rounds where him having a rifle was useful. What is this wannbe-awp-abuser team mentality?

Why force this 1-shot narrative and making him play chamber so much? I don't think he would've done anything majestic with this strat in scrims either. Imo the coach is at fault. Even getting 4-5 maps to consider changing plans is a massive stretch.

I really hope the indian scene gets rid of this stiff mentality.

LIKE COME ON MAAANNNNN! <o> .... \o/ .... <o> .... \o/ .... <o> .... \o/

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All odds were against NRG: less experience, an evidently weaker team on paper, a massive crowd differential, and a first-ever Tier 1 peak experience for three of the players. Yet, they did it.

The Early Maps: Corrode and Lotus
FNC looked horrible in the first half of the series. The rookies were NRG, but it looked like FNC were the ones with less experience. Their aim was not at its best potential, and their comms seemed off. Like the 2v2 in Abyss with Chron and Alfa vs. mada and Skuba. I have no idea why they cornered themselves; they knew mada was up top and Skuba was flanking.

If NRG had closed out Abyss, it would have been pretty evident that DRX was a better Grand Finalist than FNC. At 11-1, I was strongly hoping for FNC to make a comeback and the series to go to Map 5. If NRG had won that, it could have been called a fluke Grand Final because FNC was playing horribly. LUCKILY, CRASHIES AND KAAJAK HAPPENED! He showed up big time, and FNC made the comeback.

I supported FNC as they moved to Ascent, but oh my god, they looked so back! I got what I wanted - FNC at their best - so I hopped back to the NRG win wagon.

The Trashtalk and Mental Game
NRG was keeping the trashtalk to a minimum, even when they were dominant. It must have been hard for them, given how biased the crowd was. However, I felt like FNC was mad-raging at them when they started winning, which felt a bit over the line (?). I hate to admit it, but from a viewer's POV, that made the game hella interesting! I wanted NRG to beat FNC so bad.

Although NRG won Sunset 13-5, there was never a moment when the win was certain. I'll be mentioning a few crucial moments that got NRG the victory.

The MVPs and Crucial Moments

Ethan
My MVP. Period. While Brawk had the stats and some impact, Ethan was irreplaceable.

  • Both FNC bonus conversions ceased by Ethan:
    • Round 3 (2-0 FNC): Brawk stuck B main with spike with 133 HP, Ethan on site. Kaajak was holding Brawk with an Outlaw. Ethan went around the pillar and swung first while Brawk waited. Even if Ethan died to a headshot, Brawk would've traded. The swing timings were perfect (masterclass calling).
    • Round 15 (5-9 FNC): A site clear. Brawk got dinked CT. Ethan runs to help Brawk, calls a flash, and a double peek leads to a 3k, giving a 2v3 advantage to NRG (else it would've been 5v4 in favor of FNC).
  • 5-10: FNC at a 5v4 advantage. Ethan pushes mid and gets two, hears two running A, instant rotates to A link. A main has a trip, but he decides to peek wide and gets two more! This created a 2v1 advantage in favor of NRG! Kaajak almost pulled out a 1 HP clutch. Crazy confident and unexpected peek, similar to Textures' Ghost 3k (you can see a similar play here: https://youtu.be/lNNmZFZWfGk?t=184).

Brawk and the Odin Debate

For the Odin haters calling Brawk a fluke: Forsaken has been using the Odin for a long time without this level of impact. What Forsaken is to the Vandal, Brawk is to the Odin. He proved me wrong, and his mental strength was a key factor in NRG pulling off this feat. He definitely deserved the Rookie MVP.

Other Crazy Moments:

  1. 5-11: Crashies last alive on A site, his score 5-12, too much trauma for him! :*)
  2. mada winning the round: His Neon movement into a kill on Kaajak in the final round of Sunset was impeccable.
  3. Ethan's "We won champs" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Though I was hating FNC to my guts after all that trash talk, watching Boaster cry and Yinsu consoling him broke me. It showed the human element behind these intense rivalries.

I could be biased, but this was the best Champions so far. Objectively, I'd say 2023 Champions was also fantastic (better Champions song, better crowd, really good production).

I could not have asked for a better ending!

OH MY NRG, they were one of the least likely winners of the entire tournament, not even expected to qualify, and they genuinely seemed to be having a lot of fun all along the way. This team's mental has been the best I've seen so far out of all the teams.

I LOVE NRG, VALORANT CHAMPIONS 2025!

posted 7 months ago

It has been a while since I made a mega-thread. I used to be quite active back in the early years of Valorant, and this was probably the last year I got to follow the esports scene thoroughly. As an NRG fan for two years, this conclusion has brought me immense peace. I am writing this post as a closure to my time as a hardcore Valorant watcher.

For those curious, here are a few of my oldest posts:

I don't know what got me into watching Sinatraa, but I mained Sova and Raze because of him. He was, in my opinion, the most gifted pro of that time, the best Sova and Raze. (Also, watching Brawk with the Odin makes me miss him even more).

I started watching VCT from VCT 2021 Stage 1 Masters (regionals at that time). Even if I missed matches, I kept track of scoreboards and followed certain players, mostly 100 Thieves and TL after Nivera joined. As an Indian, I hoped for GE's success, but their management seemed bad. I remember them being a 1v3 away from beating F4Q, who took a map off prime SEN. I gave up on the Indian pro scene after that. Forsaken has always been my favorite APAC player. I loved Vision Strikers (later DRX) as a team because of their teamwork and discipline; in fact, FNC even had a "DRX" callout when comms got chaotic. Meanwhile, I loved watching s0m's streams on and off - from the cove incident to "let's tp my kittens!", I have seen him through it all. 2023 Champions got me fully invested in the pro scene. I was supporting NRG that year because there were rumors about Sinatraa joining, but Demon1 impressed me A LOT. I still think that no one can best his prime form, so I wanted EG to win it all, and they did.

For 2024, there were rumors about Demon1 joining NRG - I felt there was a potential NRG Sinatraa. It seemed like a dream come true having Sinatraa (my playstyle, the original), Demon1 (best aim ITW), s0m (W streamer), FNS (one of my favorite IGLs), and Ethan (100T fragment) in one team! Apparently, Victor and Crashies came as a package, so no Sinatraa. I got the NRG classic though; it was the first time I was thoroughly supporting a team. Unfortunately, Sinatraa didn't show up, and Demon1 dyed his hair dual-tone. s0m and FNS did shift to streaming, but I knew their career wasn't ending without winning against BLG (lol), and it was unlikely the org wouldn't be NRG. Demon1 flopped hard, and the team was at its worst phase. This was the first time I was truly feeling for a team, but I was still holding onto the slimmest chances. To make it worse, Demon1 got benched, but that let FNS come back, and s0m replaced Marved, giving me a strong reason to keep cheering for my team.

For 2025, Crashies and Victor were replaced by mada and verno. To be honest, I never followed them, so I wasn't hyped; I was just a little sad to see Crashies leave. But oh boy, something about the team had changed. I saw a whole new mood and better teamwork while watching "Sen City." I was impressed by two things: NRG's double/triple peeks while aping, and mada's aim resets after flash dodges. I started feeling lively again. The beginning of 2025 was not great for them; Verno getting dropped for Brawk was a surprise. Given how bad FNS was looking compared to his "Sen City" and "Soop FNS" days, I expected him to get dropped. Brawk did not have the energy; his Vandal aim was BAD, his gameplay was not flashy, and it seemed mid overall. I was so certain that he would sandbag NRG for the rest of the year (I was still hoping for Sinatraa to somehow replace him, lol).

I did not watch the EWC qualifiers at all; it didn't seem serious because of the poor stream quality. I just knew some dude Skuba replaced FNS. I barely remembered Skuba from his time at the Knights. I did watch EWC, and Skuba was definitely an upgrade over FNS - but NRG still wasn't in my top 5 Americas. However, they were the only team to beat (13-4) TH, who went on to flawlessly win EWC. Going into Stage 2, I was desperate to watch NRG at least qualify for Champions, and boy, they were playing well now! I was so excited for the playoffs; I was HOOKED. NRG had to make a miracle lower bracket run. Starting from the match against C9, Ethan and Bonkar were COOKING. Ethan was solo-winning them multiple rounds; his calling was immaculate. Bonkar's contribution was not always visible, but such an evident shift in playstyle and confidence was surely a backtrack to his brains.

Even after they qualified for Champions, I was 100% sure they were NOT WINNING CHAMPS. In my opinion, EMEA teams were looking a lot better; only G2 seemed to have a fair shot at winning. However, my opinion was changed after NRG vs. DRX. Nobody rated DRX at that time, so the NRG win didn't get much appreciation, but I strongly felt that DRX was a better team; NRG just adapted way too well. I was hoping they wouldn't clash in playoffs (like what FNS mentioned). I had a hot pickem, DRX flawless to finals, which I still feel was correct; FNC just made the legendary comeback.

I finally started to believe in NRG. A few important points about their run to Grand Finals:

  1. Ethan carried them hard, not just by stats, but mainly by impact.
  2. Brawk found his calling, no flashy plays but really good gamesense.
  3. The s0m 1v2 lineup against MIBR on Corrode outshadowed how the round went; it was Skuba's 3k that won them that round and ultimately the map.
  4. No matter the score, NRG's mental was consistent until the series was over.
  5. The best part was the energy of the team, they were genuinely having fun ever since they started winning in Americas.

Hey vlr,

It's been a while. Some of you might remember my old posts from the early days of Valorant. After being a die-hard NRG fan for the last two years, their Champions 2025 win feels like the perfect, storybook ending to my time as a hardcore follower of the scene.

I wanted to create this one central post to collect all my thoughts on this incredible journey and this historic win. This will serve as my personal archive and a final chapter. I've broken down my thoughts into a couple of detailed posts linked below, and I may add more in the future.
