I trolled and won, after very clearly confirming with him that the 1v1 is valid and the results would be posted to vlr.

Nobody used abilities, it was 26 rounds, 13 on each side of ascent. What he says is "trolling" was talking shit in text chat

-ult gives you the ability to either execute or threaten to execute B or whatever site the killjoy/cypher is playing on

-Taking A main is a nightmare if they have a one way and mollies and someone ready to flash at any time, so the knife helps take A main pretty easily.

-Really good knife lineups for tree, which if you have info that there's nobody tree then you can take A for free if you're running a mid default or rotating from B. (sova dart can't get perfect info on tree)

-pop flashes are insanely good for taking both sites as there's so many chokeholds that someone can hold with an AWP. There's a really good pop flash on A site that goes over the arch that gets anyone backsite and dice (but not gen) which you can also do with Yoru, but Kayo's entire kit is really well suited for ascent

I think "vibes" are actually very important from an ergonomic point of view. Morale has always been something that teams in other sports, the military, and even office jobs have genuinely considered to be a contributing factor the the team's overall success.

That's not to say that vibes alone are what will win SEN everything, but I do genuinely believe they're a large factor.

All teams have set plays and some degree of coordinated executes or fakes, but whether the players themselves can execute their role in the script well is entirely up to how confident they feel doing those plays. This is further determined by how much chemistry the players on a team have with that very role, and I don't even mean agent-wise.

Take for example Sentinels at the very start of the year. Yeah Yeah they had barely any time to practice, but also, Dephh as an IGL has a very slow approach to taking map control, and calls for a lot of defaults. This worked with Zekken, because Zekken was used to it on XSET. pAncada is lurker, but on an agent he wasn't used to playing and having to anchor sites a lot more, Sacy was used to setting up Aspas to go in aggressively, and TenZ has never been really compatible with a slow style of playing, he thrives in chaos. The only one that knew how to play off this playstyle was Zekken.

It's a controversial take, but I don't think Dephh's igling is actually that bad, but he just did not have a roster that could adjust well with the script. It was like trying to direct a realistic period piece with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the main lead. None of the players on SEN during the early parts of last year felt very confident being able to play their role very well. He would've probably had a lot better success with a different pool of players--maybe not too much success but definitely more success than he did.

If you want an even worse example of a team struggling due to confidence, just look at 100T throughout 2023, they had ideas, but they were so bad at executing them. Everyone was always scared of taking gunfights, and by the end of the year they were performing much worse than at the start. Not only that, but they never felt creative. They felt like they were trying to stick to the plan no matter what, and didn't deviate from it one bit even if they saw an opportunity that was there from them individually.

In my opinion: Vibes = Morale = Confidence = Better executed plays, more creativity, the necessary confidence in your own abilities to deviate from the plan when you feel like it's necessary.

The reason why I like Zellsis on SEN so much is because no matter if the team is down 2-10, he'll still be able to bring the team's morale up somewhat. We've all been there where we basically start giving up on a game or feel like there's nothing we can do about what the enemy team is doing, but if you've ever made a crazy comeback you know exactly what I mean about team morale and how its necessary to be able to go all the way.

Not only that, but this year's Sentinel's has a much more aggressive IGL who's calling style fits the players a lot more, which only improves their confidence as each player returns to a style that they're more comfortable with

I assume they stick with sage to be extra safe while planting with a vertical wall + more consistent delay with slows to maintain site control with less people (you can technically do the same with harbor walls but they require more people on site to hold angles) which helps set up their chamber's lurks better

Hong Kong and Illinois

I mostly played in Singapore and got to asc 3 but when I got back to NA I couldn't get past Asc 2

Whenever I played on Hong Kong though I'd always run into 3-4 players with aimbot (idk if hyperbole or real), I think I had 20% winrate on HK.

Either Chinese and Thai pros smurf all the time or NA and EMEA are doomed once these kids go pro
