There could be a couple of reasons but a big one is that the scene is just behind 2 years. The main league has had 3 years to grow and for players and teams to get better. Without that time GC is still in the early stages of Val. If you put the best teams of 2020 against the mid-teams from today the mid-teams would win by a lot.

Another one is that its there is a very low amount of women and trans players who play Valorant, without a big player base its difficult for more than 1 good team to exist in each region which makes it difficult for every team to grow. For example, look at Oceania in Valorant.

Another one is that there are no good coaches and analysts in the scene since any good coach would just go to a main league team and get way more money and exposure. Without a good coaching staff its difficult for a team to grow. Version1 only has Effys as their entire coaching staff. While most franchised teams have a real coach, an assistant coach, and an analyst.
