How long does Valorant last?

Not seen a lot of discussion on this but at what point do people thing Valorant will peak in popularity and then start to decline? Will it be like what happened with Overwatch where a couple bad updates and boring metas eventually killed the game and completive player base?

Or does it last the test of time and stay alongside CS?

I want Valorant to succeed long term, but my main issue right now is name recognition. CSGO has many big names (s1mple, device, etc) and a decent influx of young talent (m0nesy, for example). Also, the dominant CSGO teams manage to stay dominant for long period of time, thus allowing fanbases to grow around both players AND teams.

Now look at Valorant. Our biggest names are ScreaM, TenZ (lol), cNed (unknown prior), nats (unknown prior), and Tarik (who doesn’t even play the game competitively). The game is going to heavily rely on young talent, so we need to see more players like Cryo/zekken/trent. There aren’t enough S-tier tournaments to establish dominant teams. For example, in NA we’ve seen teams like TSM, 100T, and currently SEN dominate for short periods of time before flaming out. EU has similar issues, where it’s hard to judge dominance vs flukes due to lack of tournaments (is Acend really better than Gambit, for example).

i’m out of ideas now so i’ll shut up but hopefully that gets my point across

Acend isn't better than Gambit overall, but they were at Champions finals and that's when it mattered. So fucking tired of morons who only started watching during Masters 3 or only watch 1 region saying Acend fluked Champions. Acend beat Gambit 3/4 times in total, 2/3 if you don't wanna count Red Bull Home Ground. They also won Masters 1.

I meant “fluke” in the most respectful way possible when it comes to Acend and Gambit. It was a very close series between the two best teams in the world at the time, so it’s hard to crown a clear number one after it.

Fluke in and of itself isn't really a respectful word but I get what you're saying so maybe I overreacted.

i mean name recognition can build if there are young and good talents for example cned he doesnt need to be known before im sure he can build a big name recognition by being good and keep playing. And i dont think it would be good if some teams would be domitating the whole scene bc if there are no new teams that are good the scene would get boring pretty fast. And if there are new teams/scenes that can compete against each other the scene will be exciting and it wont lose any viewers from any region

CSGO pro players will retire some day, They're getting old.
And valorant is more friendly to a new player who starts playing FPS game. Stewie2k said that even kids can aim in valorant

In long term, Valorant will be full of young talent players and a bit of retired csgo pro players

Also, Riot entertainment knows how to attract ppl with MUSIC AND ANIMATION as well.My friends know LoL from music mv in youtube without playing the game. Then, they go try playing LOL and addict to TFT rn.

I think valorant could get really popular in the next 5 years. Could even potentially beat csgo in 10.

As long as G2 is in the scene their esports side is alive, but imo it started to decline time ago, as a casual game and competitive one

i think itll live as long as another game company makes another copy of csgo (just like what riot games did with valorant) and it becoming another competitive e sports that slowly dies out just like what valorant is currently doing

A Game stays relevant as long as the producers give out Money. There will always be people playing Valorant because they wanna win some prize money
