zanks and ahm4xx were ex-tier 2 on dynamo but they weren't able to play at full form because they were all too young at the time... they're good tho, on the leaderboards constant and cool people from the times i've talked to them
the difference is every other year, there was Challengers for T2 teams to compete in. Academy teams can't compete in the open qualifiers for VCT but they don't even have their own circuit to fall back on now. academy is p much just glorified scrim partners for their main team now.
playing in T2 doesn't matter for academies that's why I said that in reality it makes no difference, as long as you can lock down players and have them scrim against T1 the point of having an academy is fulfilled
i think you have a very unrealistic idea of what being on an academy team is like. they don't get as many T1 scrims as you think bc teams don't trust that they aren't going to leak scrim info to their main team. it's not like they are being put on display with this opportunity to prove themselves to other teams in T1 scrims. that's why being able to compete in T2 was important.
I don't think T2 prac matters for most of these kids, they just need prac in a structured environment, wether it is against T1 or T2 doesn't matter as long as you get scrims, playing in a T2 circuit or not doesn't change anything unless the org wants to advertise the academy to some extent like SEN did with Cubert
