Does anyone actually think the EWC holds the same weight as a Masters event? NGL the EWC might even be bigger than the regional VCT , but it's obvious that players prioritize Masters and Champions FAR more.

It's simple, if Americas or Pacific wins, it'll hold weight, but if EMEA does it, it's considered Mickey Mouse. Same was the situation of LOCKIN where every team from every region was available but it was still considered mickey mouse because EMEA won it

lock/in was considered mickey because of the single elimination format with every team invited (i don’t agree since single elimination format is good), not because fnatic won the tournament
