RIOT kinda saved China and APAC. They're 0-4, and by making all four regions play each other, it lowers the chances of only Americas and EMEA making playoffs, which could potentially hurt viewership and sales.
I know this sounds crazy, but just think about it.

Those two regions together, even though they don't interact much with us, are bigger than the Americas fanbase. For us it's boring, but, it increases their chances of making playoffs.
If we get an Americas vs EMEA 1v1 matchup, we'll probably end up with a dogshit team making playoffs purely because of luck. At best, we get GE in playoffs, who is decent.
Which is already a huge win for RIOT since it's the Indian team.
The Chinese teams will probably get stomped, but they'll still boost viewership.
