Who do we think will be the best team on ascent now that it coming back to the pool?
I'll do it by region:
AMER: G2
EMEA: TL
APAC: T1? (idk)
CN: XLG

last i remember rrq's ascent was really good but ngl that isnt helping
crazyguy was abusing tejo from attacker spawn so it was dependant on the other 4 getting the spike down lowkey but he had jemkin dropping bombs anyway
drx and prx were decent on ascent but they were also reliant on yoru so we'll see how that goes
Tbh I said nrg because they're desperate for a meta change and ascent definitely isn't a typical double duelist map at least to me
Team saadhack is undisputable for me on ascent it's just kinda how it works
With how mid kayo is compared to a phoenix, don't think any good teams would try a Kayo on Ascent.
That was pre init nerfs where you used the knife and dart to info cycle during the round.
i mean a knife just stops a rush full stop and the places before the choke are so short and narrow you can't avoid it
even detects if an A split is happening
A dive agent accompanied by a phoenix would be in before the suppression takes place. During a site exec it would be accompanied a secondary piece of util like an omen blind or dart or both. Also the smokes would be setup right before the hit so where does the knife get any value. On a decent team one player would be dedicated to break the knife if someone was using it to stop a rush. Also yours is the best case scenario where the kayo is always present at the right site during the exec. Kayo by far has the steepest mastery. Ethan is the only player who should play a kayo on any team otherwise phoenix ult will get more value, easy to master and the flashes also get high value due to how the map is designed. Also by now every teams knows what the kayo knife lineups are so most teams will avoid the knife is its used at the start of a round.
G2 has been the best Americas ascent team for the last 2 years, what do you think has changed?
with how TL beat the bricks off of fnatic on Ascent, I'm inclined to agree
no lol you lost to both bbl and tl in very convincing fashion last year, even to navi but that was somewhat close ig
ngl i forgot how good our ascent was and it should lowk still be even with the roster overhaul
Our ascent has always been really good but I am kinda worried about potential role issues, we've typically always just ran:
Jett, Sova, Kayo, Omen and Cypher
Which usually gets the job done but idk if Kamo can really play flash initiator or how reliable Miniboo's jett as a win con (lowkey we might have to put mini on kayo and kamo on jett if we want to run this comp).
I am hoping we just swap out the jett/kayo for neon/pheonix but idk if that would really work as well on ascent
miniboo - neon/waylay/jett honestly all three can work here but I would say the neon would still be best
kamo - phoenix
nats - cypher
purpo - fade(i think he has found more comfort in fade than sova because it allows him to stay somewhat aggro and with the team, and liquid have always been a team that plays to comfort strengths)
wayne - omen
think this comp would be really good for them, and im not sure how it wouldn't at least win them the map a few times considering their understanding of keeping mid aggression
if some teams choose to run cypher over vyse TL would be cooked if they ran fade over sova
historically most teams have opted for kj or vyse rather than cypher so i think TL would be fine
again its all theory so they might end up running the sova anyways
yeah most teams will probably continue on vyse
Except bbl probably they'll run some cypher bullshit
Ascent just like lotus should be a vyse must map as she and sage are the only 2 agents who can truly stop a rush right now. Neon on ascent is very hard to get value due to her entry pathing. Jett and Waylay should be the preferred dive duelist to access the verticality. I prefer waylay solely due to refracts get out of jail free card if you run into a stack.
I think DRG will be better on ascent than XLG since its been pretty much DRG's best map almost any time its in the map pool and the fact that they've already played it against trace and looked good on the map.
Easily PRX and all doubters or anyone that says "historically" will see soon enough
translation: i'm completely guessing and the only time they've been good was with busted yoru
