Three years ago, my 24" 1080p 75Hz IPS monitor broke, and I replaced it with a 27" 1080p IPS monitor. After buying it, I started seeing all the hate online about how terrible 1080p looks on a 27-inch screen, and I quickly realized they were right—the text was awful.
I started feeling an immense amount of guilt and shame for making such a bad choice, especially since I was an IT student and felt I should have known better. It gave me so much anxiety that I completely stopped attending university and skipped my exams. I barely used my PC anymore, and after four months, I ended up breaking the monitor out of frustration.
What makes it worse is that my family was paying for the monitor in installments. The guilt from the purchase and everyone online laughing at this setup made me spiral, and it eventually led to me dropping out of college completely. I felt like I had to break it because looking at it was ruining my eyes, but now I'm just left wondering... did I do something terribly wrong here?
