paired with rtx 5070
idk but i have a 7800x3d and it gives me crazy good fps even though my gpu is shit
I got a 9600X and its treated me amazing so far, 7500F is pretty good too when it comes to value. Obviously there is the 9800X3D and 7800X3D but they would be bottlenecked by your GPU at that point, but if you want the best CPU then those two are definitely the best for gaming. No idea about intel tho
depends on budget/ what u use it for really, is it just gaming or do u do editing/ rendering?
just for gaming, i know 7800x3d will be enough for a long time still, and that 9800x3d is just barely better so i cant decide
Obviously its your money and your decision, but I would get a 9600X if I were you
if you have a 5070 and just want to game, I dont think the extra cores/threads of a Ryzen 7 or higher CPU is really worth it, because a 7800X3D or 9800X3D will be bottlenecked by your GPU.
So unless you plan on buying a $1200+ 5080 or a $2000+ 5090 (bear in mind the AI market means we are going to have shortages in 2026 so itll be even more expensive) you basically are paying a tonne of extra money just to have the 7800X3D or 9800X3Ds extra performance wasted by your GPU.
6 core CPUs are definitely more than enough for 1440p gaming (5070 cant do higher than that) and I can run any game on 1440p high or ultra and get good frames, and for competitive titles I get about 600 FPS on Val, 300 on CS and OW, and would get similar in all other comp titles (With a 16GB 9060 XT, so around a 5060Ti level of performance)
Again, its your money, but I think its worth to save yourself the money and either spend it on the rest of the PC (RAM in particular is probably worth buying now before it goes up in price again, so if you dont have 32GB and want it, now is probably the time to get it because the prices arent going back down in 2026) or you can just save yourself the money. Just my opinion tho, do whatever your heart desires. If you want the 7800X3D or 9800X3D for performance or future proofing or just to feel like a baller then fair enough, it still will be better than a 9600X but you wont see the full potential of it because of your GPU
Also dont take my word as gospel, make sure you research elsewhere before you come to a conclusion on what u want to buy. Wish you the best with whatever u choose
also just to add, the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 cpus can get much hotter than other cpus on the market because of the extra cores. If you decide to go with an X3D cpu I would get an AIO over an aircooler just to keep the temperatures at a good level
the only cpus that can push valo to like 1000 fps in the range is the x3d chips
i mean on i use a laptop with a 4050 and mobile ryzen 7840hs and i get 400fps on low, 250ish on medium so ig any mid range cpu these days packs a SOLID punch (my i3 gives 50fps keke)
