Learn the fretboard first.
Learn to read tablature
Learn basic chords (A D G C E etc)
If you're having trouble committing to practicing and improving, have songs in mind that you want to be able to play
Get Songsterr premium (£9.99 a month and is literally the best tool for learning songs)

I mean from my experience, the guitar community has always been pretty welcoming, especially when I was just starting out. But I get what you mean given average vlr user behaviour

If anything that isn’t your fingertips is hurting while playing, you’re probably doing it wrong is a decent rule of thumb.

Second best tip is to have fun

seems fun, I started strumming randomly and hit something that sounds like the music part in SKy full of stars, 'm going to start 3days a week, 30min a day lessons online to learn chords, (just watched a 1hr vid of all the parts and how to hold and hsi)

Honestly sounds like a great plan, starting with learning how to hold it was an excellent decision.

Good luck!

Actually a good point about your fingers.

extended sessions will leave you sore afterwards for a while until you develop the calluses that more seasoned players have. If you want to develop them fast get the VariGrip pro from D'adarrio, I literally never put mine down and it helps build finger strength and even has a ridged side simulate the feel of strings and build those calluses faster.

Early stages of playing are all about comfortability though. Get comfortable with the guitar, holding it, moving around the fretboard etc.
