Bruh, League should have probably won it, objectively speaking.
Literally all the nominees like League, dota, CS are not only bigger and had a hell lot more viewership, they also organized big global world championships, while Valorant hasn't even had champions yet. I am not trying to undermine Valorant, just calling out the reality.

If viewership decides the winner then league would have won it every year.

I can agree but Valorant already before Champions showed epic success in Masters2 and Masters3 + it is the fast growing eSports scene rn with region variety.

Valorant win because it has achieve what they did in their first year.
Not even LoL, DoTA, CS achieve as much as valorant did in their first year.

True. It's a popularity award after all. More votes = win. A lot of people have tried Valorant this year, being the newest amazing esport. Guess it makes sense that way. Congrats to Riot for that!

That's a short-sighted viewpoint, even if that's true. Esports as a whole has globally gained a lot of traction in the last few years. When CS released in 1997 or something, when CSGO released in 2012 or so, esports wasn't really a big thing globally. It has grown exponentially over the past decade (stats back that up).

I can assure you that when the next big esport drops in, it's likely to have a bigger meteoric rise, even compared to Valorant.

Nah my friend, you don't get the point.
Best eSports of the year must be given to the team that has ACHIEVED the best in that year.
And what is ACHIEVED is vary, that's what the judge score.
And as their first year of eSports valorant already get so many achievement, EVEN IF ESPORTS IS BOOMING NOW NOT LIKE A YEARS AGO.
Because if the Judge rate based on their first year achievement in 2021, they won't be placed on same with cs, dota, lol since they're not have their first year in 2021. In this category valorant only have rival with other game that have their first year.
And that achievement is what make valorant win, they beat other games achievement.
So my point is, the award is based on what happen now. Not to compare with what happened in the past.

Valorant also had 3 big LANs this year 2 of them were global with good prizepool. And champions would be their 3rd big also biggest LAN this year.

If it's more votes = win then Val could've never won. If it was all about popularity then Tenz would've won the rookie award and not b1t.

I think it deserves it this year just because of how new it is. But if the state of the game is like this until next year I doubt it would win a second time.

Poor take. Valorant as an esport has established itself as one of the premier games in just a single year. Let me tell you that 2020-21 was the period of lockdown which means a lot of people started playing games. A lot of e-sports titles like R6, CS, Pubg, Pubg Mobile, Lol, FF, Dota 2 already existed in the esports market. The level of competition for Valorant was really huge when it was launched. It received a lot of hype coz it was a new game but hype generally dies down after 6-7 months.

Secondly, establishing an esports environment in regions like SA, SEA where mobile games dominate the market is really a tough task. Third, in the first year of Valorant it has been able to provide an esports environment for Girls in the form of Gamechangers.

Launching of a new game in a market and dominating one of the biggest esports titles in the very first year of establishment is indeed a feat and that's why Valorant deserves the award. It has ventured into new circuits and has made itself very successful.

mobile games, like mobile legend, pubgm, free fire in SA and SEA region is so big that CS can't survived
