other major tourneys sometimes have parts of skin sales go towards the prize pool, so that might add to the prize pool

Honestly you're not wrong, 1 million prize pool is fucking pathetic for the biggest event from a billion dollar company, at least 3 million or something

I saw someone else point out that if the main tournament has an insane prize pool, nobody cares about the smaller tournaments because they don't see 10s of millions of dollars. Kind of like what happened with dota and ti.

thats LITERALLY nothing, the amount of players in valorant is crazy and the ingame purchases too +taxes laundering on some island. 1kk is much? ITS SHIT. Gambling Sites do 1kk for fun on christmas lmfao

Nobody cares about prize pool in Spors-Esports. Like do you care how much world Cup winner get, or NBA winner get ??? Only Dotard players care because its only thing they can proud of and show off to League players :)). Healthy scene don't rely on prize pool to grow

Football revolves around money and is the biggest thing in the world!

I know but most football fans never care about prize money, they care about trophies , about the events ,not ''how much money my team will get after winning a tournament ''. And Sport-teams or even LoL teams don't grow by prize money, sponsors, TV revenues are much more bigger. TSM is arguable biggest, richest Esport-organization in the world, and they don't even have DOTA team, only LoL team made them that big, and you know LoL prize-pools are tiny

You must be crazy then because first place in UCL nets you around 150mil at least, which can cover an entire transfer window...

#17

yes it can but no fans care about the money. they care about qualifying. your reasoning is very flawed.

As a united fan i was looking for that sweet 60mil from winning the Europa.

Fans of smaller teams especially care about winning the prize money. Because they get a better transfer window.

United is a small team now? they make more than every than every other EPL team, 60 mil is nothing to them

60mil is literally a top tier defender. Y'all acting like clubs were overflowing with revenue amidst the pandemic. You know how many cocks barca would suck to get 60mil?

Man Utd makes a yearly revenue of 600 million a year

yeah im sure you would want that 60m like it was coming to you. and dont talk to me about prize money when you support them. Every player they buy is always overpriced. Maguire, sancho etc

Sure they don’t talk about it directly but they do care about it when the transfer window comes around and their club isn’t spending any money

Clubs do not make transfers based on prize money, tho. Small clubs, maybe, but a team like Man City doesnt rule out 5 transfers at the end of the season because they didnt win the Champion's League, or even quality for it. Money comes from sponsorship, ticket sales, merchandise, and other revenue streams, similar to how in esports most orgs earn through content creation and sponsorship.

Tell that to madrid. All their latest transfer windows came from the warchest they had accumulated in their 4 UCL wins.

You also realise the biggest club in England revolves around money? Manchester United have sacked managers just for not making top 4 and I’m sure Chelsea would do the same

Who will want their money getting wasted..... everyone wants it to return in some sort of way either be it be fame and recognition after winning a title which will increase the sales in their merchandise

Like I am giving an example here

Only eSports talk about prize pools because that's how they justify themself as a competitive discipline, a problem traditional sports don't have

But there are no other tournaments in valorant anyway. What are you talking about?

You think a big prizepool would steal the glory of the 900 viewers NSG monthly cups?

#44

the scene is not healthy at all, it is impossible to get anyone to care about anything other than TI. if an event doesnt have 10's of millions on the line absolutely no one watches it. having events like blast, redbull, nerdst in val and blast, iem in csgo that fans care about gives the scene more diversity and a solid base for teams to grow/invest.
