Females in Valorant

I am genuinely curious why no female pro plays in main roster or participate in tournaments where male also participate coz I feel they have a great potential but their potential might go wasted if they will continue to play against weaker teams(as compared to mainstream teams).

I am not hating them but it's my genuine concern I even feel c9w could prob take on many male teams as well.

They all had the opportunity in challengers, any team can play in challangers no matter of male or female

C9W did play in VCT NA open qualifiers, they lost to Brimstone gaming
There's alot of female teams in the EU vct open qualifiers too

Can we really blame C9W here, any other team in place of C9W, still the result wouldn't have changed.

c9w at least put up a decent fight. even the gambot and botinels couldn't do shit against BG. But BBG are the only ones able to destroy this beast of a team. Because they have one extra B.

They aren’t on par with the males teams yet sadly, but I think if they consistently played against them instead of just playing Women teams, they’d improve a lot more.

80%+ of female players are diamond- low immortal while T2 male players are all imm+ female scene needs few more years to get as competitive as male scene
also it feels like female teams only scrim against female teams which is why they can get away with stupid strats
also c9w would easily take down japanese teams lol

i mean it kinda makes sense to prac vs other female teams, probably a majority of scrims ive played vs male teams is just them running around and not trying because they skill diff us (which is another problem tbf)

If male teams are just going to be running around and skill diff-ing and winning 1v1 interactions, won't that only promote the development of better team strats and just overall more team coordination and better utility usage to counteract and compensate for a raw mechanical skill diff?

(Just a genuine question btw. I'm not trying to criticize or call anyone out.)

#36

i mean in theory yea but when they literally just run you down and give no space, there isn't really much you can do, so many of these male teams just give up trying anything of their own and stop praccing, they just go lol girls and run about, therefore even if you can actually set something up that they would let you do in an official, it's still super easy to get caught off because they throw their brains out the window more than you would in ranked just to be disrespectful because they're playing girls

hope that makes sense idk

I'm not entirely sure that they can beat Japanese teams, CR did put on a fight against gambit, arguably gambit weren't really trying, but still, going in OT against the guys who won Berlin, is an achievement

C9W wouldnt make it to challengers playoffs in any region lol, you are grossly overestimating them just because they dominate teams that have players that peaked 100rr immortal averaging 125 ADR

before that are played all BO1 against a lot of teams, this is the fase where no other team in female scene got through

#12

the main thing is that there is a much lower playerbase than men, so there will be less who grind to diamond, then even less who want to go even further, then even less who want to/are able to grind through the depths of immortal and come out with good enough mechanics to be able to play on a truely top level team, then from there finding similar skilled teammates, managing to grind through everything and ending up breaking out

this is without taking into account the horrendous sexism that happens in matches all the time, and yes even in immortal, which discourages a lot of women from continuing as well (luckily i dont have that since im trans but that brings so many other problems to my life so like lol nvm :D)

also obviously most of us will prefer to stick with other women (due to dogshit they experience in ranked etc) so then like since its so hard to find high level male teammates already of course it's going to be even harder to find women on that level

i think it's very possible that we can see some female players mixed into the very top scene soon enough, but multiple full teams is just super fckn unlikely (hope this makes sense idk im kinda just spamming shit)

Honestly with amount of horror stories I’ve heard from my female friends about sexism and toxicity towards them in this game, I honestly don’t blame u guys for wanting to not fully integrate as yet.

#21

agreed it does makes sense. The amount of sexism they face in game is really huge problem even my sister doesn't play online because teammates either consider her as someone who is trying catfish them & be toxic towards her in the whole game or they just act like super weird as if they have never seen any girl irl(maybe they actually haven't xD). But I hope the condition would improve in future (as more & more girls are starting to discover different genres of online gaming). The insights of someone like you who has been playing this game professionally is really appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
(I don't want to sound weird in such conversation hence I won't write my username here)

sorry to hear about your sister :( as i said, for me since i have a male voice i don't actually experience anything sexist myself (with the vct game changer tag in game i get my own transphobic shit so it's still not fun for me tbf), but when playing with teammates it's crazy how far these weirdos can go to just flame my girls, trying to find tiny holes in their gameplay to scream at them for because of their voice? because thats all we really know about someone in these games, so its actually ridiculous that people care about that

it's more just a problem with life tbh, there's so many fucking white cishet males that are just the biggest pussies and go through life with no challenges and then casually empose them on others, it's really sad

nice name tho no worries about it :D

inherently slower reaction time https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4456887/
and the player base doesn't differ that much, so the argument that there's a small amount of female players isn't really valid https://www.statista.com/statistics/722259/world-gamers-by-age-and-gender/

I swear some people have forgot that the female and male brain are very different. They each have their strentghs and weaknesses. The male brain has innate advantages when it comes to competitive sports and even esports. Like you mentioned, the increased reaction time, on average, is one of the innate advantages of the male brain.

#35

it's unfortunate. I think it would've been really funny if women had better reactions and reflexes (but still less strength & stamina) so were better than men at esports but worse at normal sports. Oh well, I blame the evolutionary gods

#39

yeah so in that article on reaction time, the tables show that the women's reaction time is about 10-20 ms slower than the men's, depending on the category. idk about your lobbies, but I think there isn't much of a difference in 10-20 ms reaction time. I don't think the problem is so much with reaction time, but im not sure what the problem is

Against other tier 1 CS GO pros.

And his example makes sense because it is an individual one at the extreme end of performance.

Whereas the study is about averages, so it can't really be applied at the level of pro play anyway.

#49

honestly the female scene has made a huge improvement this past year, although c9w didn't make it far in vct they improved a lot from where they started when they first got signed. if they continue to regularly play in non female only tournaments, I think they can do even better in 2022. all we need is one female player or team to make it somewhat far into a tournament bracket, and it'll cause a domino effect for the rest of the women. i'm really hopeful for 2022 and I think c9w is our best shot

And recently Asteria (a South Asia based women's team) qualified for SEA GC (FSL Elite). I've been occasionally following Meow16K's streams, it was a pleasant surprise to see her in the team.

Independently female players are cappable of playing on t1 teams but as teams even the best team c9w cant compete at tier 1 val, in time im sure theyll improve but tenz had said mel would do well in tier 1 val. Potter got a go at tier 2 val and didnt go great stats wise but her strats and big brain was what made her so key to the team thats why shes coach now.

There is just so many more males that play Valorant. When you see more females playing Valorant you will see them competing at the top more often.
