Petition: cancel sen vs f4q game Riot!

As far as i understand, this match isn't even for seeding apparently. Is this true? If so, why continue with the format if the group stage objective has been reached? Is there even a point to this match because it only disadvantages Sentinels who play 4 matches while other teams play 2 or 3.

Unless somehow the F4Q game can still affect seeding, since this format was forced on us because of the Bren Esports situation, it should be perfectly reasonable to modify this format again if it has finished serving its purpose..

The teams most likely would want to play for practice alone.

There's no room for public practice in an international event. That's why scrims are very tightly disclosed in the most general terms. Antistratting and prep is huge with teams who are near the same level

Exactly my point. If there aren't many opportunities for teams to practice then why wouldn't they take advantage of the ones given?

No, I'm saying teams DO practice, but they do so in private, not in front of their future competitors!

Practice isn't limited to just showing everyone your secret team strategies. I bet there are plenty of players in Berlin who would like more stage time to get used to their surroundings. Also, why would Riot in their right mind decide to cancel an opportunity to earn more money?

Well, they could just revert back to the old schedule which had 1 quarterfinal game on Thurs after the last 2 groups then on Friday, 3 matches instead of the fat stack they have right now for Friday of 4 full matches

F4Q will play 100% they don’t have nothing to lose, 0 pressure. Plus they won’t want to leave 0-4

Technically if Sentinels 2-0 F4Q with a scoreline of 13-1 13-1 they can take first place. But of course that highly improbable. Nonetheless, they'll still have them play the game. Can't just cancel it because it's nearly impossible for it to affect seeding.

would be insane to see that happen tho. would suck to be G2 in that timeline

I heard chats saying that the round diff is head to head only which does seem nonsensical to me. Still, even if this is true (<3 round for f4q), Sen has already made it clear through interviews that they want 2nd seed to potentially play an NA team first before they go against strong international teams and can show their new stuff in semi's instead of quarters

not even so they can because g2 has 114 rounds in favor and sen 74 adds up to 26 and still they do not reach them

either SEN will troll or the koreans will get rolled hard again, no point in playing it.

lmao, do u even watch sports? Group games always play till the end even if standings are decided

Nope. This is the first Esports I've gotten enthusiastic about. Still, tradition shouldn't supercede logic and we don't have to repeat stuff that don't work. A double round robin was clearly the lesser choice, and it also made it so that there are 4 matches on Friday which is insane lol

honestly i don't understand why the teams even had to play twice

I mean if SEN was in a "normal" group, they beat F4Q, then beat G2 -> advance to playoffs, which is two games played & 3 days of rest... instead they have to play two extra games (and they lost, meaning they're 2nd seed instead of 1st like they'd be in any other group) and have no rest days. Same for G2, instead of two rest days they get 1 and they played 4 games instead of 3

Exactly.. I know it was the lesser choice since they did it at first because of the Bren Esports visa thing, but it's served its purpose now.. these teams need rest and should be playing the least amount against each other before the playoffs so there are no advantages/disadvantages from watching them play as frequently as they do. Even G2 talked about how hard they counterstratted sen for Split the 2nd time after just 1 match.

Do you have a better alternative to this then? A round robin seems to be the best way to determine playoff contention in a 3 team group.

I know it's tacky to change a format mid-tourney but it's already scuffed to begin with lol. This was always the less desirable option because of the 15-team group format, but I really don't like how completely pointless (besides just being a showmatch for viewers) this last f4q v sen game is going to be.

This is the dumbest thing I've seen this is literally a professional tournament even if the match means nothing it should still be played as this group was organized in a round robin manner

Why should it be played, it requires sen to A. troll or B. reveal strats they would have saved for playoffs. Seeding and qualification are already decided.

If F4Q wins. Then G2 enters as the first seed and Sentinels as the second seed.

I mean it's unlikely. But Sentinels will not be trolling like how people are saying they will. You do not want to be a second seed in a single elim bracket. Sentinels are a strong team. But they also prefer the easier way out which is just giving it their hardest. But not revealing any major strategies but honestly it would just be Sentinels playing normally because they don't really have set plays. More like counterplays.

Everyone's already saying that G2 secured 1st seed since they won a 2-0 against Sen, so head-to-head, they've already decided the seeding. This match isn't for seeding or for determining who gets out of groups. it's literally just extra chances for people to watch sentinels who said in interviews that they'll be running the same strats so as to not reveal anything new to playoff competitors. Plus, the 2nd seed works out for them too since they have a 67% chance of facing an NA team in quarters which they're really good at beating.

ohhh. tf? really strange that they do this. I guess they'll still try decently though. Because it's quite disrespectful to not try. Sentinels are sometimes toxic. But they do respect teams. So they will try their hardest without revealing strats prob. Like always.

Yeah, based on what dapr said to platchat, they'll basically be using their B strats to the best of their abilities. Basically trying to force a win not with new stuff but what already worked in the past.
