This is an idea I had for Ascension and I wanted to share it with you.
- I know there will be no relegation this year for VCT teams.
- I don't know if partner teams can be relegated if relegation comes into effect next year
- I used the best teams so far this year to illustrate better the idea
*I'd love it if all VCT teams were at risk of being relegated, as it would force lazy organizations to spend money on good, reliable squads.
At the beginning, the LATAM South team and the LATAM North team would face each other to decide who is the best in the LATAM region.
In the first phase of this tournament, the second best teams from the Brazil region, the North America region and the loser of the match between the two best from LATAM would face each other in a format similar to the Kick-off Play-ins, with the best two advancing.
- This is probably my least favorite format, but it's the way I found to fit the six Ascension teams plus one VCT team.
- There is a simpler format with eight teams, but I made this format keeping the same number of teams as last year.
And the second phase would be a format we're all used to, but with the VCT team having a rest match. And the other rest match going to the region that won Ascension the year before, as The Guard, now G2, won Ascension last year, the rest match goes to the best team in the North American region.
This was my idea for the tournament, any suggestions are welcome and other formats such as the Swiss format or a tournament with all matches being eliminatory matches can also be explored.
