EU Has Gotten Weaker

Is it just me, or has EU as a region gotten a lot weaker between Stage 2 and Stage 3? I mean looking at the teams:

Stronger: Acend, G2, Guild (draken buff), Giants, tenstar, Finest, Rix.GG

Too Inconsistent to tell: Liquid, Vitality

Weaker: Fnatic, Heretics, BDS, FPX, NiP, Alliance, Wave

Now comparing it with NA:

Stronger: Sentinels, 100 Thieves, Envy, XSET, FaZe Clan, TSM, Gen.G (debatable), Rise, T1, Ghost, Luminosity, Pioneers

Too Inconsistent to tell: Soniqs

Weaker: Cloud9, Version1, Renegades, Immortals, Andbox, NRG

I mean now that I look at it, on paper, NA as a region is probably better then EU

(This does not apply to EMEA btw, TR and CIS both have improved an insane amount)

Yeah, but even before that, it seemed like a lot of EU teams were falling off
Heretics got nuked, NiP lost their IGL, Alliance disappeared

so the top eu teams got better? and the worse ones fell off?

Should've worded it better
It's not really 'falling off' when the teams just implodes

Eu didn't get weaker. They just didn't get better. I can't say that the Acend and G2 in EU challengers is better than they are now in this playoff. Acend is always good enough but G2 still looks like the team that got a wk to prac.

Also SMB is cracked af

Hey I had SMB flair before as well. So I just switched back to it. The two teams I supported heavily were FPX and SMB. With also supporting Guild a bit. I mean I had a dream pickem of putting FPX vs SMB Grand Finals but I switched it because I wanted to get a perfect pickem but sadge.

Stupid take. EU as a Region is still the best in EMEA, we just can appreciate that SMB is a very very good team

Read. I did not say they weren't the best EMEA region, I said they weren't better then NA as a region
This also has nothing to do with the SMB win

One thing. I think BDS have gotten stronger. But the other teams have gotten more stronger in the same amount of time.

The thing is, EU hasn't gotten weaker. The teams that have fallen off that you've noted being Liquid, Fnatic, etc, all of those teams had the massive advantage in time and money to be able to get squads together immediately over most of the other teams in the region. Now that time has passed, and players have been picked up, those rosters aren't actually any worse necessarily, it's just that EU has gotten far more competitive altogether. Remember that Europe is still essentially dominated by the CS scene because EU CS isn't dead, and the few pros who did switch were immediately snagged by the biggest orgs. Also remember that CIS basically might as well have not existed at the beginning of Valorant, with how heavily that region skews towards CS to this very day. The region has gotten stronger, more competitive, and will not be down for the count.

True
I 100% think that once the CS scene transfers to valorant, EU will be the strongest region by far
Also I am aware that competition has risen over time in the region, which is why FPX, BDS, and Fnatic look weaker (should have made it clearer which teams are weaker and which teams got caught up to)

However, you can't tell me that teams like NiP, Alliance, and Heretics haven't gotten significantly weaker, rather then the region just catching up

This thread was just made to look at the two regions top teams on paper and, IMO, NA is stronger right now, in terms of the amount of top teams

Most of the top European teams were not even in the story with Iceland. It is entirely down to the region catching up quickly on that pro player deficit coming from CS.
