So im 17 in clg.... one of the worst things tht could happen to me is being falsely accused of smtg i didnt do....
Today a random guy texted to my moms number saying "where is the transaction (my name)" and some bs....i told my family i dont know him...
Now my family thinks i do drugs and bs and im hiding smtg from them...i feel so stressed man idk i feel really bad.... thought i could share it here...

tough situation, i feel for you man.. but u gotta pull through and keep telling them the truth. If they dont believe u, they're just bad parents with no faith in you. make sure u insist that its a completely random person that has nothing to do with u

No, they are bad parents if they don't trust their child. Why should your child listen to you if you don't even trust them? Trust is the most basic and important factor in any type of relationship. Nothing makes a child feel more worse than not feeling trusted by their own parents.

so lets say he somebody is dealing and he doesnt tell there parents but they dont trust him, what now? it doesnt make sense to just trust everything when teenagers usually have some stuff to hide.

you can be worried and still trust your child and give them the benefit of the doubt as long as reasonably possible. if you just instantly suspect them without any actual reason like in this case, with a random person texting you, then ur definitely a bad parent.

How would a person would know op's name and its parents phone tho? Of course its alarming to parents. Too many coincidences if that is indeed a coincidence and not a "prank"

sure you can be worried but if ur kid says he doesnt know u should trust him. it could literally be ANYONE, even maybe some random weird adult who knows his parents and him as well just doing this, it could be one of his friends, but the most important thing is to show that u trust in him

Yeah, but of course it depends on the child. If child has a questionable things done in the past then probably it makes sense to be suspicious and blind trust is a dumb thing. I just feel that parents often are just flatmates to children and not people that work together. However you should still not make these general judgements on them without knowing more

yeah sure but it depends on what you define as 'questionable things' as well. if its common petty things that almost every child does because children obviously make mistakes then no, this shouldnt be a matter to distrust them, and even if its not as petty and might be even more severe they're still your children so you should SHOW that you trust them, thats the most important thing, even if you in your head do have a bit of suspicion. i agree that blind trust is a bad thing, but this isnt blind trust that im advocating for, its just SHOWING your trust until you have a reason not to, giving benefit of doubt.

WOW....JUS WOW.....I CALLED THAT DUDE WHO TEXTED MY MOM.....HE WAS IN THE SAME SCHOOL AS ME TILL 5TH GRADE AND HAD STORED MY NUMBER 6 YEARS BACK.....TURNS OUT HE HAS A FRND SAME NAMED AS ME IN HIS COLLEGE NOW AND WAS ASKING NOTES OF THE LESSON "BANKING AND TRANSACTION" AND HE MISUNDERSTOOD BETWEEN THE 2 CONTACTS....AND HE ACTUALLY SAID " WHERE IS THE TRANSACTION NOTES (MY NAME)" THIS SOUNDS EXTREMELY STUPID BUT TRUST ME ALL THE THINGS I SAID IN THIS THREAD WAS TRUE...MY PARENTS KINDA APOLOGIZED TO ME TOO....sry y'all
