Honestly yes, they have pretty good sporting infrastructure, sports is considered a way to show the country's strength other than through military. They also have a football stadium that has (or had I'm not sure) the biggest spectator capacity in the world, and have always been interested in hosting big events like olympics. They have previously even hosted a winter olympics.
