Well csgo fans...
I dont blame you guys for being so salty about valorant taking over the scene slowly...
Imo all other valorant fans should not blame them too
cuz imagine playing a game for 7 years and having such good memories of it and then a new game comes over and is already as big as it in a year...
Imo we should jus keep listening to them shit talk about our game and ignore and that might make them happy until valorant completely takes over in a year or two and all the CSG OMEGALUL fanboys will also switch to valorant

7 years? More like 11-12 years. Indeed great memories, and CS will always have a special place in many people's hearts.

I don't think valorant is nearly as big as CS is atm, and Valorant as an esport isn't even close to be fair. But valorant IS steadily growing and innovating while CS remains stale and remains pretty much the exact same game it was 5 years ago. Which is the biggest reason I moved over.

Valorant isn't big at all. Low prize pools, low playerbase. CS has been big for 20+ years

1 year of gaming at its peek vs 20 years of struggle to make gaming a thing..

you can argue it isn't big yet, but considering the growth on this first year, valorant will become giant. maybe even bigger than cs. who knows

Hard to say honestly. CSGO has always been sustainable.

Look at games like Apex Legends. Became absolutely fucking GIGANTIC in a super short amount of time, then dwindled just as fast.

Look at overwatch. If Valorant makes the mistake of adding the equivalent to Brigitte in Overwatch, it could be a mistake that sees a bunch of the playerbase leave and never come back.

CSGO being fairly stable and unchanging is both one of its biggest strengths and biggest weaknesses at the moment.

Valorant have something which Apex Legends and Overwatch didn't, Riot

valorant is not another apex. the extra hype valorant had, has died down and the players that are playing now are not just on the hype train. they're staying in valorant.
also, a brigitte sitation in val is not very likely, simply because riot lol

I agree with you for the most part.

My entire point is just that because of the unchanging nature of CS and its large fanbase, it is quite sustainable.

Valorant is growing and it definitely has the potential to avoid the fate of apex and avoid the mistakes of overwatch, but due to it changing all the time, there may come a point in time that will harm the game quite hard.

I know many people I used to queue with, for example, that stopped playing valorant due to the post-plant meta that has barely any counter.

It only takes a few slight missteps to lose the trust of people, and no matter if you fix it a month after with more balance or a new agent, some people will refuse to come back. Do this several times and the popularity of the game may suffer for it.

Given the riot treatment and the growth we're seeing, I don't THINK it will happen but it's hard to say at the moment whether the growth of valorant is sustainable. All I'm saying.

Only the future can tell that. But i think hype will die just like with Cyberpunk, Apex, OW

For all of you who saying it might become like overwatch and apex
APEX :- dwindling cuz of huge amount of hackers ( VALORANT wont see that 100% and we all know that)
OvERWATCH:- agents broke the game...( Wont happen cuzz riot nerfs/buffa agents every 2-3 weeks and have reduced abilities severly in the last major match...) And valo is a 70% shooter game cuz flashes nades smokes do not really count as abilities...
Updraft satchel KAYO knife sova all abilities etc count as abilities...so abilities are quite few...
Once VALORANT sort out minor gun issues i can see it going higher in popularity

valorant competitive scene is just so boring

low prestige, low prizepool, scene filled with washed ex-CSGO pros, bad maps, flow of the game just isn' there yet

you can't have casual mechanics like jumping classics, RNG spray and expect it to capture the hardcore audience like CSGO does

maybe in a few years? right now it's got the Overwatch/PUBG vibe to it where most of the viewers are like 10 year olds bandwagoners than people actually watching for the competitive side of things

breeze is excellent ascent and haven too... prestige is high ppl love it a lot everytime i go see twitch there will be atleast 30k more viewers than csgo ( not during a tourney) which means there a lot more valorant players who stream all day small ones 90%....prize pools aint low...600k for the first LAN tourney is good cuz in the first tourney there will teams who will jus dominate not enough competition ( eg sen in Iceland:- would u think SEN deserve more than 200K playing really shit teams where some qualifed by flukes like fnc TL NUTURN) the next one with acend, fpx, sen ,vision strikers , better Brazilian teams... better SEA teams cuz val has become huge in SEA (constant tourneys) "washed csgo pros" who else do u expect to join in a brand new game where the pros wont know wether to risk switching or not? Wait for a few years and there will be pure valorant pros...and the "washed pros" are kinda doing shit in val rn too... watching comp games aint boring lol... different strates with abilities aint boring...as i said once the MINOR gun issues get fixed i think val is set to become real huge
AND the first LAN tourney was without audience too so the prize relatively had to be low right?
Im pretty damn sure Berlin finna have 900k-1million prize pool...where winners take 400k

ascent is the only good map in the pool

breeze, icebox, haven, extremely gimmicky maps that require agents like viper and tons and tons of post plants

bind and split are just pure garbo

There is many problems with Valorant at the moment, abilities aren't really fun to watch, they're like the least fun aspect of the game because you always use them in the same way. People think there are more agents so there would be more interesting way to play the game, nope.

One thing you can do to check is hop on Asuna's stream, watch how pros play Icebox, it's literally the exact same way to play every single round, it's not remotely fun to watch or has any depth to it.

That's the real issue, despite having so many agents and so many abilities, you can't balance them all to be "good" at the same level, there's always MUST HAVE agents at the pro level (viper, sova/skye, jett) that basically locks in your play style. It's not like CS where each person has the same utility which makes tactics actually much more dynamic than in Val.

So, Riot needs to completely revamp their game to change this, minor balance patches will not do anything, but I don't see them doing it because they've never had a good track record of making ground breaking changes like these. (They're satisfied with bringing a lot of casual fanbase, but their games have depths of puddles)

If u say breeze aint good idk wt u on about...if u saying LINEUPS are problems in breeze idk wt u on about...breeze can counter lineups so easily :- fast flanks , lineups are far and takes time to land and we can half diffuse in the mean time and the bombsites are so huge if the plant gets misplaced a bit lineups fail...kayo has been intoduced to kinda counter lineups ult/knife...knife gonna get u if u have a lineup spot near by and if its far away it might land late or early...haven is one of the most fun maps too watch...lineups happen once every 4-5 rounds and works rarely...and is disadvantage too cuz u wont help the team in site...icebox u can run so many strats...b site has so many bomb plant spots...bind and split are gonna fall out the meta by the end of this year and barely gonna be played...cuz of the 2 new maps which are apparently coming by end of 2021...and seeing breeze u can say that the maps will get better cuz riot jus seem to improve...

Valorant is definitely on par with csgo right now
But I don't think any game can last as long as CS did (20+ years)

in terms of playerbase yes, but not in terms of esport size. CS continues to bring bigger numbers even for smaller games.

dude did this in riot dota game. They add and market different mechanics to a dying game and get their share of the big pie.
