The term 'Major' is useless for VCT

Majors is a CS term describing Valve hosted events of significance, hence Blast Premier and other third party torunaments are not considered majors.
All the main circuit tournments are and have been run fully by riot starting with first strike so this term makes no sense because I think most people would agree that first strike and masters 1 were signficant and run by riot but are not 'majors'.
Aka the term doesnt make sense because then you get into the 'was lock/in a major' bullshit when in reality it was essentially just a masters with a different format, taking up the normal masters slot, having the same prizepool and teams treated it as such.
Champs > masters = lockin > regional riot events like masters 1 and splits >third party tournaments such as redbull homeground.

ditch the term for the love of god its just useless in this game.

It's like only a small population uses it and it's not even half bad I'm pretty sure it's not originally a cs term but we can modify words to suit our needs lmao

We can always use major to mean international riot hosted non regional event with prize pool higher or equivalent to 1 mil.

I mean that'd only mean there's 1 major per year, feels like there should be a lot more than 1 tournament to say if teams are good or nah. What would you consider masters to be, minors? because they're still global events

Riot: "LOCK//IN is not a Masters and does not replace a Masters event, it's just an unseeded, non-qualifying tournament to showcase all teams that have been selected as partners in International Leagues and their line-ups, prior to starting the regional leagues regular season."

People on vlr: "LOCK//IN IS THE SAME AS MASTERS, CUZ I SAID SO"

Ok bruh, you know better than Riot
