Zeta Crow

I do agree that crow has been playing really bad lately, and that peek against T1 might have actually cost them the game. But most people don't know that he doesn't exactly seem to be in his best mental state as of late. Since April, lots of Japanese fans are talking about how he no longer smiles or shows any form of emotion. If you search "Crow 闇堕ち" on twitter, which literally means "falling into darkness" / "turning bad or evil", you will see lots of comments on this.

Here's an article on Gamewith covering a recent interview with Crow
https://gamewith.jp/valorant/article/show/400014

Q: これは何度も聞かれている質問にはなってしまうと思うのですが、crow選手から感情が消えたと大きな話題になっていました。感情を抑えてプレイするようになった経緯などをお聞かせいただけますか?

Q: This is probably a question that has been asked many times, but your lack of emotions has been a huge topic of late. Could you tell us how you came about playing like this?

Crow: I have always been the type to be emotionally unstable. I get excited when me or my teammates clutch, and demoralized when the opponent pulls off an insane play. This swing of emotions is especially drastic for me, so I tried to see how it would be like to reduce these emotions while playing.

The amount of hate in twitter among Japanese fans against him is already insane, albeit an overwhelming amount of support from fans as well. While I do think ZETA needs a roster change, let's give the man a break from all the hate on this forum as well.

i dont hate players.
especially ones who get a lot of hate because they have a lot on their plate already, no reason to add to that.
crow is in the big leauges and may not be performing amazing but he is there for a reason and has worked hard to earn it. he deserves it

Poor guy, I can't even imagine the hate he's getting since he's the "visible" issue with the team. I don't hate on him or anything, but he shouldn't be suppressing his emotions. That's the worst thing he could do as an eSports player. Just take a break from everything crow ❤️

actually sad, also put into context how much pressure zeta players have, they are like some national team over there unlike dfm. hope they have good staff over there to support them

I love how the japanese esport fan reaching the next level of flaming their players when the team does poorly. Crow is the sacrifice for the future of japanese valorant growth.

understandably, the odds of having an Asian country to hold a masters/international event instead of a western country is already low enough, but in JAPAN at the growing height of JP Valorant too. DFM will never gonna reach top 3 to qualify for international event especially as years go by more teams are gonna get added to franchise. Who knows when the next international valorant event held in japan again, Crow might've cost a multi year opportunity for Japanese fans and for its country.

Regarding "If you search "Crow 闇堕ち" on Twitter, which literally means "falling into darkness" / "turning bad or evil"
Excuse me for not knowing how the quoting works on online forums.

I've always understood it as a so-called "nerdy/weeb" term to describe crow. I don't think it was used to criticize him IMO (not a native Japanese speaker)

PS Where do you find hate against Zeta players? All I can see are "gg"s and "nt"s and "you tried your best"s even after absolutely horrible performances

Yes, 闇堕ち isn't used to criticize him but rather, a fun way Japanese fans use to tease him after he turned stone cold.

The hateful tweets were mostly at the beginning after ZETA lost, until the tweets got overwhelmed by the supportive fans. You still see hate tweets now and then, but Crow was trending at 31k tweets (both hate and supportive tweets) just after the match ended.

Oh damn, I never looked further than the players/team's tweets. Thx for showing that. Also, some of those tweets are from new accounts dedicated for Crow/Zeta lol
