How is it that cypher can keep his flank trip wires but KJ cant keep the alarm bot withhout being in radius.

Allowing 1 sentinel the value to hold lurks in any part of the map and not another seems a bit bogus.

KJ got mollys nerfed od already and I can understand turret but alarmbot should be allowed to go off without being in range.

I feel like KJ stuff shouldn't power off too IMO. Especially with how big maps like Breeze are. Or at least make radius wider

that's what riot want though, they want different agent stronger for different map, not a one size fit all

for tactical use its to broken leaving KJ util with molly to win time on one side and 5 mans tack other. if used well, you can win 10 seconds with the mollys alone for rotation and stuff. for matchmaking you can make her no range but tournaments its to broken with no range.

As a person who mains KJ, I hate being in radius with my alarmbot, it makes it harder to catch the flank from afar

viper powers off when dead but other sentinel like sage wall stays up post death for a time limit. IDK feel like cypher and KJ need some more strength again given some teams don't run true sentinels anymore on certain maps (not counting battle sages etC)

KJ and Cypher are kinda equal rn, i don’t think they’re gonna change anything abt it until a new sentinel comes, most likely next act

Riot thinks that every agent needs to be the best of the roster at something. Sage, for example, is viewed by them as their primary staller, no agent can stall as well as her. However, when KJ didn't have any radius on her turret and robot, she was as good as a cypher at holding places on the map without even being there, which is Cypher primary role. Therefore, they put the radius on the turret and robot to avoid her be as effective as Cypher in this situation.

I personally liked the change because it gives more variety to the game. I remember in the early LOL seasons, that some champions used to fulfil the same role as others. This created a problem because some of the champions were never used in pro play. After all, other champions would play the same role but were simply stronger. It seems to me that the current Riot approach to Valorant agent-wise is to avoid that happening again.

Killjoy was even better at stalling the enemy and holding sites than cypher. This was primarily because she has abilities that directly deal damage unlike cypher. Cypher is much better at stopping flanks, lurking and gathering info, but Killjoy is better at holding sites and post plant situations. I personally think this makes both agents well balanced.

kj's stuff can cover an entire site to possibly alert an entry, if you're a god who knows where the turret always is you can just smoke it for a while, cypher shit is more fragile, you can just tp/crouch/jump over it and also it's not as much of a pain because cypher doesn't activate a molly beneath you when you cross the tripwire, it wouldn't make sense

Kj is stronger than Cypher on most maps, that's why she is played so much more.

KJ is much stronger at holding site though, and those post plants for KJ.

there are pros and cons for each agent, and that's how it should be. SHouldn't make 2 with the same strength with different skin

Because Killjoys utility is much better than Cyphers. It is definitely easier to run into an alarmbot than into a wire.
If you have a little understanding of gunplay, you must understand, that as soon you run into the range, you need to look into the ground to shoot it. This gives a KJ thats in the range the advantage in a gunfight. Cyphers wires are less useful for that, but they give the same info as KJ, so he gets 2 of them with wider range.

I personally think, that has a reasonable strength thats not too opressive. I feel like Cypher really needs a buff right now to keep up with KJ (or Astra x "Agent" Kombos, which are currently replacing sentinels) in this meta.

As cypher & KJ main,

  1. Because KJ utility is geared more towards offensive style and Cypher utility more toward defensive style.
  2. KJ utility is active, while cypher is passive.

KJ bot can detect enemy in certain radius and KJ turret can see enemies as player see normal. But cypher skill is not.
If you wanna make KJ utility become global, to make is balance you should make Cypher wire moves when enemy in certain range, and make cypher cage makes enemy vulnerable and damaging while enter it.
Even same sentinel, KJ and cypher have different playstyle. So it's all balance.
Even for me I think cypher is better in term utility.
But KJ ultimate is too OP while cypher ultimate is trash.

KJ feels better rn, I think Cypher needs some buff, his ult is weak if u compare with the KJ ult
