Role Queue In Valorant?

When I played Overwatch a couple of years ago when there was no role queue, solo queueing was horrible because everyone would want to play DPS. Almost the exact thing happens to me in my plat solo queue games where I get like 3 insta-lock duelists almost every time. I feel like adding a role queue along with also keeping an open queue option with be a good solution. Having different ranks for controller, sentinel, duelist, and initiator along with an open queue rank would be pretty interesting. What do you guys think?

but unlike overwatch, you can’t do anything while in queue. no practice range, no deathmatch, nothing (at least for quick play, I’ve never played competitive mode in overwatch so I’m not completely certain about that)

yeah that's true but the valorant dev team was talking a couple of months ago to add the ability to queue deathmatches in comp queues.

I don't know how overwatch role queue works. Say I queue for initiator how will this put me in squad? what if I'm put into a squad of 4 duelists?

In ow there is locked team comps, so you will always have 2 tanks, dps and supports and they are locked into those roles. So like in valorant it would be like 2 duelists one sentinel ect ect

maybe limit max duelists per team is better, since some people and pros play different roles in different maps i dont think ranks per role is needed.

Not until there is a concrete metagame. In OW 2/2/2 just made sense, the roles are well defined; unlike in Valorant where they are much much more fluid and map-dependent.

They should just allow you to dodge queue as much as you want. So if you get instalock duelists you just leave.

I brought it up the other day, but maybe introduce role queue to a very limited extent (guarantee at least one controller on each team, etc.)

no man that would be a bad idea... As long as we don't need to get a specific composition to be good at the game. I mean you can win a game without any healer, or without any flasher, or you can win with 2 controlers in the same team or even without one duelist. The only thing that everybody need its a smoker.

That’s what I mean. Make sure every team has the bare minimum like a smoker.

role queue would kill the game, that's forcing people to play smoke/flash/sentinels or whatever when you can play the game perfectly fine without it. Just see some pro teams play without one of these roles too.

If there's a role queue the creativity of the game will die, like overwatch.

I wouldn't do that... the problem with Overwatch was everyone would choose the shooters ... but in Val everyone has their preferences do every role gets filled on its own

This probably wouldn't work due to the varying meta and four different types of agent types. Since there is no "defined" composition for a team(like there is in Overwatch), this idea probably wouldn't work.

if they do that, then maybe insta lock duelists will go down, but it will make ppl mad af (like me)

I don't see it working under the current system that the game classifies roles as.

I think this is a bad idea because it just limits what you can do with your team comp and if it goes into pro play like in overwatch I think that would be horrible for the game.

This is a horrible idea, this is is exactly what killed overwatch so why tf would they put it in valorant.

Just add trust factor to the Game like we have in CSGO and people will behave. If People troll to much and get toxic, they will get Players as Partners that are also toxic.
