What does lock-in do again?

So I know the region that wins gets another slot, but I don’t understand at what? Is two slots for Ascensions teams? Or 2 slots at champions? If champions why does it matter? Aren’t the majority of franchised teams fated to be at champions anyway ??

winning region gets one extra slot at the next international LAN, Masters Tokyo, so all 3 regions are guaranteed to send 5 teams, and the region that wins lock//in gets to send a 6th team

only gives an extra slot to masters. The purpose of the tournament is not to decide who the best team in the world is, but to showcase all franchise teams to the world.

I remember hearing it was a permanent slot at masters, meaning instead of 2 teams from NA qualifying, it would be 3 like in EMEA
