Why do you defend TSM Cutler?

If you’ve been around here enough, you know I’m a big TSM fan. I like the individual players, but ultimately I want what’s best for the team. With that being said, I don’t see how TSM can keep Cutler as a starter and expect to win key matches moving forward.

I’m not pro, I’m not a great player, I’m not a good aimer, but I have a decent brain. Support players aren’t supposed to top frag, but they should be able to win some aim duels against equal competition. Lots of people on Twitch say “Cutler plays Astra, he’s not supposed to get kills, he should stay on the team because his utility usage is great.” I don’t think that’s realistic. Cutler went 2-16-1 against IMT on Ascent. Meanwhile, his Astra counterpart in JCStani went 12-12-6. We even saw Skadoodle top frag on Astra in a loss with a line of 20-15-5.

Here’s my point. A support player doesn’t have to go positive, but they can’t be going double negative or consistently be the weak link in the team. Subroza plays Skye and frags. Drone plays Sova and frags. Brax plays Killjoy and frags. You can’t use “support player” as an excuse for going 8X-negative.

So, after my TL;DR of a post, why would you defend Cutler? I’m genuinely asking and will consider responses. People in game broadcasts get very offended that I would suggest Cutler be dropped for the good of the team.

No one defends him... but its up to the team... which is BS cuz Brax has everything that cutler doesn't... mechanics and Game sense

Completely agree. He needs to be taken out as he is a clear weak link that consistently doesn't carry his own weight. A very consistent bottom frag that is holding down the team.

kills aren't everything.

But he is not the igl either. So i don't understand what value that he brings to the team that others can't replaced. Maybe chemistry???

You can't win games with consistently more deaths than kills :)

you have to give more than that. this is my problem with the argument you and the others make. do you believe 2-16 can be justified because he smokes and sucks?

If tsm just replace him with a fragging IGL , tsm can be top 5 again in NA.

Hazed isn't a bad IGL at all. He can frag if he wants to.

He is an ok igl. But when u see tsm had a 5- 0 lead in ascent vs imt. And then IMT had 11 rounds in a row after that. TSM can't answer IMT response. That is an igl problem. Maybe hazed can be 2nd igl

Yeah that's true. Bad call after bad call. Reminded me of the TSM vs LG game where they also threw a 5-0 lead.

and tsm is such a momentum based team. I do not know what can fix that issue

Probably coaching. And some bad chemistry or confidence issues that we as fans can’t see.

The problem is that the coach, Tailored, consistently says that their team chemistry is what makes the team great which is why they are never willing to let go of cutler. If they want to improve and go to Masters, sometimes you need to lose something in order to move forward.

its very clear that cutler is less mechanically skilled than the rest of the squad, he has slower reaction time too, which isnt something someone wants to hear in pro games, for sure

He had two 1v3’s against the NA powerhouse known as Rated Gaming. In all seriousness, he had some decent 1v1’s and clutches back in the day, but I rarely see them anymore. He won a crisp 1v3 against Gen.G (not the most recent match but the one before that), but that’s the only good one recently.

Also, that was when he was on Sova, who is the best agent for clutches IMO (you could make a case for Reyna, but Sova has much better utility). Now he’s on Astra, who had ZERO clutch potential IMO.

"I’m not pro, I’m not a great player, I’m not a good aimer". Dude, you have actually no ideia how different pro matches are from your low elo pugs. Your opinion is actually worthless because you can't develop your line of thinking beyong "he didn't kill anyone, he's bad, take him out" and anyone with a room temperature IQ can do that.

ok genius, so why should he stay? you can’t possibly justify it. go beyond the basic “low rank” insults and actually give me a coherent response. your opinion is actually worthless because you can’t develop your line of thinking beyond “he uses utility, he’s fine, leave him in.” Like buddy, every other Astra player uses utility, perhaps even better than Cutler, AND they can frag.

I’d also like to point out your hypocrisy in belittling me for honestly admitting I’m not a “great player or aimer,” but you somehow attempt to defend Cutler who is also not a “great player or aimer.”

Like, excuse me ImpChris, but I offer soooooo much value to my teams with my utility.

At first it was easy to defend him because in my opinion, TSM's early defects were in their composition and their attempt to try to disrupt the meta. Once they tried to follow the current meta with their recent comps and failed recently last challengers, it would've been harder to try to defend Cutler because we're seeing now with this current comp that Cutler is becoming more of a liability
