Royals have been a prominent presence in the European Valorant scene since forming during the beta. Like fellow UK players on team fish123, Royals members had previous experience competing in the UK CS:GO scene before switching over to Valorant.
Royals experienced early success with consecutive first place finishes in weeks three and four of the Valhalla Invitational. Since then the roster has undergone changes, with neph and leakeN departing and weber and Russ joining founding players DPS , HyPe and kpiz .
The team also recently acquired the coaching services of nEiLZiNHo .
The news breaks as the European scene weathers a drought of opportunities for unsigned players. Top teams FABRIKEN FABRIKEN Europe Rank #3 and PartyParrots PartyParrots Inactive are among the numerous rosters to recently announce their disbandment after failing to secure the backing of an esports organization.
We reached out to Rix.GG’s Managing Director, Jamie Lewis, to gain insight into what made Royals stand out from the crowd:
We were looking at this roster from a very early stage - back in the beta - and there was plenty we loved about them. Since then, however, they've switched the team up and brought in a really first-rate coach. We have some extremely high potential young players here, who are British, and have the mindset to achieve and to win. For us, that was far more important than statistical analysis, or hearsay about how good players are or aren't.
This is a new game and determining the best players is still a difficult process - but we believe that we've succeeded in choosing based on desire, on approach, on attitude. They look absolutely incredible in scrims against some of the best teams in the world and I've got extremely high hopes for this team under the Rix.GG banner.
The ex-Royals squad are set to compete under the Rix.GG banner for the first time ever in tomorrow 's €15,000 Mandatory.gg Cup.
