Should Riot really have allowed Pearl on Champions

i am biased here since LOUD got trashed on it and now they are permabanning it on Champions, so i wanna know what you guys think. actually before Champions i already thought it wasn't a good way of deciding the best team in the year since the map got just released.

like, imagine FIFA decided to add another goalpost for each team right before the World Cup. this isn't a good anology, even because football rules don't change much, but it's to show it might not be fair changing things that much before the most important championship in the year. how can a team prove to be worthy of the title of the best in the year when they only adapted fast to something that got just released yk

imagine your teacher tells you to study for an exam that will happen tomorrow when he didn't tell you about that one before. if you don't go well enough, does it mean you are bad? there are so many variables involved. when a map is released, there is a transient of every team learning related to that one - that transient doesn't mean much in a short term imo.

I think it was fair, I think it nerfed LCQ teams that didn't have as much time to prep but that's what they get for not qualifying earlier. Imo a very enjoyable map to watch

i agree it's enjoyable, i just think if they wanted to include that map, they should've released it earlier. most teams had never played it officially ig

Teams were 100% scrimming on it. At some point the mpa has to debut in an official tournament and I doubt riot wanted to wait until next year to do so. The map is also interesting because the meta on it changes with each map played

Fracture was added during M3 Berlin and was playable at Champs last year. This time too it's a similar case.

well that's actually a good thing then, LCQ teams go to champions while not being able to win any qualifiers with against the best teams in the region, they might as well give them a hurdle which is time to prepare for the new map as a way to make it fair for the better teams

Yes there really isn’t a reason to say it shouldn’t, same concept with fracture. All teams had equal time to practice it

i mean, the fact fracture was a similar case doesn't validate this now, idk what you mean with that example

??? the fact fracture was a similar case definitely validates this now. there wasn't any good reason to remove pearl from champions. the fact that it was the same for fracture shows precedent in how new maps are treated

Yes it was fair, map is decent with the exception of B long design which is just trash since it's basically Chambers shooting range.

it's fair man, they've done it before in previous tournaments every yeam knew this would happen when the map released, i don't find it unfair at all for any team except LCQ and that's very reasonable

its fair, the real champs are the ones who can keep up with the changing meta and adapt well to it

I really like watching Pearl and think its a good map, that being said I think they should've kept in Split and left Pearl out of the map pool until next year. I don't think having huge patches or adding content relatively close to a major tournaments is a good idea.

i think it's fair. your argument doesn't make sense. the meta shouldn't change throughout the year then? imo being able to adapt to new maps and meta is part of being the best

of course it should change. but the purpose of Champions is deciding who was the best in the year, who improved the most, who has the biggest firepower. so before the tournament starts, they put another big new variable. that variable shouldn't influence much who will imo
