champions slots

should slot allocation be based on how well that region did in the last champions
thailand had one team go out last in 2021, br had 2 teams, japan had one team.
and that's only last place 9-12 was 2 NA, 1 BR and 1 SK

why so many slots for regions that perform poorly?
-2 slots for br
-2 slots for na
merge japan and sk and thailand into apac, give all of apac 2 slots (PRX and random)

explain?
Why should the under performing regions be given dedicated slots?

2 masters events happen between champions 2021 and champions 2022.

2 masters is a long time

A lot can happen

#16

then base it off the masters?

there's been a whole month or two since copenhagen and a lot of teams have stepped up their game since then (LEV, DRX). this game is too new and volatile to implement something like this

you're saying that teams should be given more or less slots for the WHOLE NEXT YEAR based off of one LAN? that's stupid. look at how many new teams are here compared to last champions. why punish a whole region for the failure of a single team?

#20

how many teams are first on lan? BOOM, EDG and who (both went out in last)?

you're misinterpreting my words. 100T, xset, boom, edg, leviatan, zeta, prx and fpx are all teams that weren't in last year's CHAMPIONS (and some repeat teams had 2+ roster changes since last masters).

imagine NA got fucked over because SEN and NV did poorly last champs. 100T would have never qualed to champs, and they're arguably a top 6 or higher team atm.

It works in CSGO because they have different stages, but if you all get placed in groups it doesn't work. It works if you have a lot more teams and if some of them get placed further along in the tournament, having to play less games

CSGO has a much higher skill ceiling because 95% of the teams actually should be there, not just 4-5 that should be there and then some diversity inclusions.

tbh i don't see a lot of cs teams from asia. other than tyloo. there just isn't a large following there

why do people keep thinking slots are based on performance?

they're not, they should be.

slots right now are based on diversity and given to regions that don't deserve them.

6 asian slots?
tournament just started and 3 of the asian teams are out.

agreed, it's ridiculous how a region (SA) that has never won an international tournament has 4 slots (1 more slot than EU and 2 more than NA).

or asia,
6 slots in champions.
I guarantee you it'll be drx and prx in playoffs, no other asian teams

South America is 2 regions

no. brazil isn't a region lol, it's a country/sub-region. that's like me saying europe has 3 diff regions (CIS, central, west)..... the LCQ they played was for SA.

There's 1 qualifier for BR and 1 qualifier for LATAM. Two regions 1 slot each. Then Riot invented the SA LCQ. If you say the SA LCQ should only provide 1 slot then you might have a point

That's exactly what I am saying lol. I think 3 slots is ok (even though it is still questionable) but 4 slots is just ridiculous.

you're either baiting or not watching. NA won 2 out of the 5 international events we had so far lmao. And both BR and APAC have shown insane growth exactly because they get a chance to play at the big stage and improve. Both BR and APAC have gone from underwhelming results and being the absolute underdogs to reaching the FINALS on an International event this year. Japan has also reached TOP 3 this year

I don't know why you are targeting BR, NA, and JP/KR when APAC are currently the worst performing region at the moment based on stats. EMEA is also literally doing worse then NA at the moment.

They are.
In cs all of asia is grouped into one group and normally given 2-3 slots, it should be like that for masters.

JP/SK/CN/APAC/OCE: 3 slots

Personally I think they should invite every team that gets over a certain amount of points and then an lcq for every region.
So the top 12 teams by points should get an invite
And then lcq like normal

If this happened then the following teams would get invited:

Emea: FPX, FNATIC,G2,GUILD
NA: OPTIC
BR: LOUD
JPN: ZETA
KR: DRX
APAC: PRX, XRX
LATAM: LEV KRU

However this isnt entirely fair as emea gets more slots for masters.
just an idea though

  • another issue is the fact that a team could qualify based on 1 performance alone

If weak regions don't get to play at the top level then only the teams from the most sound region will move up while the teams from the comparatively weaker regions will only have a single team from their region and that will just result their performance deteriorating over time and fans getting frustrated and moving away from the game. Like some of the most hyped moments from the tourneys are the underdogs overperforming....Zeta and KRU's golden run was extremely memoorable. Even Furia's game today (Fnatic was arguably playing bad tbh) was pretty hype even though I was rooting against them

well obviously they would still have an opportunity to play at an international level there would just be less of them and harder for them to get there. better teams playing against better teams will obviously get better than better teams playing against weaker teams, what is this logic?

#36

The logic is money, more regions more money

You do know that if RIOT favors one region over other then almost more than half of the viewership might go away. APAC clearly has the 2nd most viewer base rn and if you don't give an underdog region a chance to be on bigger stage how do u expect them to improve. With your logic I would take the spot given to NA on LOL worlds cuz we all know how good they are.
