Overall, I think the consensus not only in pro play, but also in the whole community, is that Viper is one of the worst, if not the worst agent in the game. What do you think can be done to remedy this and make her a competitive controller choice against Omen and Brimstone? Or maybe they should change her role in the game altogether?

A couple suggestions I have would maybe be making the smokes/ults fatal, and adding another smoke so that she can use one for taking site and use one for post-plant

Making the ult fatal would be completely broken, if a viper pops an ult there is no point in attempting a retake because you will just have to w-key it in and try to find the viper or die.

I mean, I'm just saying, there's not a lot of times where I'm reduced to 1HP from a viper ult or a smoke

Or they could just rework/remake the entire agent and make her more friendly to new users as well as make her more viable in general, but still keep the theme of viper

I mean the only video game charecter comparable to Viper would be Tachanka. Although he's got a long history, Viper has about a year. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
and honestly i cry on the inside every month or so when i see the patch notes and there is nothing about viper.

Not at all dude lol viper is meta in many regions on icebox, has very decent viability on bind and split, and has even been used well by c9 korea on haven. Tachanka was dogmeat useless no viability ever no matter what

agents like viper or yoru are strong already and i would also say OP on their own! the reason why almost nobody use them is just that People dont need that abilities for their strats. teams need agents who can clear sides fast or hold a side long enough to seal the deal. also agents like viper are not only annoying for the enemy team they are also annoying for the own mates in matchmaking since the viper wall is something both sides can use for their advantage. a potential buff i would recommend is that viper should be able to get back her wall to place it again later. if you play for viper after plant strats you cant lose and thats something i consider as really unfair since if they get the plant and they damn smoke set on spike, you literally cant defuse the spike since the smokes + poisen kills you in an instant. i personally hate viper as enemy or mate since you would ask her to down or the wall every few seconds and thats to much communication imo for matchmaking.

another thing i have to add is, if they wanne see more of the other agents like viper, yoru and stuff just hard nerf jett, reyna, killjoy, sage, breach, skye, phoenix. anotherwise it doesnt matter what buffs are coming to viper since nobody wants to stay on the side for whole 2 minutes and just defend it with smokes like a fishflake. people wanna move, shoot and walk

viper doesn't need buffs as much as everyone says. She just is designed to only be suitable for some maps and she does her job damn well on them. The only things i would do to change her is to make going through her poison (smokes-walls-ult) more consequential, increasing the amount of decay. Would also make her able to retract her orb.

make it easier to practice smoke lineups without restarting round in customs and make her more versatile, maybe recalling smoke or wall so you aren't stuck to one spot on map

Viper is not that bad, it seems like people are rediscover her after the introduction of Icebox. In Icebox she is almost a must pick and you see her more and more on Bind in Pro Matches. Especially the Killjoy Viper Combo is quite unfair it makes post plants almost impossible to win.
I think she will be good in Split and possibly Ascent too. I think it’s alright if we have agents which are great on some maps and not so good on others that pushes people to learn multiple Agents.
Imho you should be able to know at least 3 or 4 agents one of each group [Cypher, KJ, Sage], [Viper, Omen, Brimstone], [Skye, Breach] and [Jett, Raze, Reyna, Phoenix, Yoru]. Problem is most people are playing Jett and Raze and you can play them on all maps so they don’t want to learn anything.
I find it quite interesting to play or see various agents on maps every Viper buff could make her op because she’s not yet completely discovered. It took some time people knowing the frenzy is great too.
I would let her be the same the next two months and have a look if the meta changes, right now it seems like we see more Viper picks.

2 smokes she can throw, and then activate indivdually like cypher's cage or killjoy's molly.
her wall can be returned, but has a massive cooldown (30-45 seconds)
ult is fixed up a bit, corners dont block your vision, faster cast time.
people who run through her wall are vulnerable for a short period (like her molly)

not all of these chenges have to be implemented (because then she might be too strong) but i think a mix of a few of these could make her much more viable on maps outside of icebox.
