Confusing Regions

I don't know if I'm stupid, but I'm just wondering why there's separate regions in masters 1. For example, why is there Latin American North, Latin America South, and Brazil. I'm no genius but that doesn't seem right. NA isn't split into Canada, East Coast, and West Coast.

Ping difference. The countries are pretty far apart from each other.
For instance, the distance between Chile (Latam south country) to Mexico (latam north), is farther then the US to Europe.

But isn’t there a middle ground? Like Illinois or Texas for the US?

It depends on where the servers are located, and I don’t think there is a server for every country

Even with this all the traffic goes to the submarine cables, when i was playing COD4 on a server located in Ecuador the players who live there got like 15-20 ms and i who lives in Colombia got 150, the routing in LATAM is a joke, in LAN we play in a server located in Miami with a ping between 40-100 ms, in LAS they play in a server in Santiago, once a time i played in LAS server, i got 154 ms
