Yes. More commonly so in manga i happen to stumble upon a story i enjoy only to take an L with who "won". Hell, i even stop reading sometimes if i hate a character enough
If i know theyre about to get their shit rocked though i stay so i can watch some1 beat their ass up
Also, if you want that freedom, theres a manga where you can choose the ending you want to read and it corresponds with the girl that ends up with the guy. I forget the name, bokuben or something similar. basically you get to choose who you want to end up with the MC and you just read the correct ending and there ya go. Everyone gets their W except for gay people Sadge
