Anyone else curious to what this org is doing?

They seem fairly invested in Valorant, they have a male and a female team that they maintain and provide good salaries. They have a global academy division that regularly does events for Korean Valorant, sometimes partnering with DRX.

BUT, there's just one thing I don't understand.

They have shown 0 results, and have 0 fans. So what the hell are Gen.G doing? Surely they aren't trying to get a franchise spot in Americas?

Do they have some special connection with Riot?

There's virtually no time left. They're not in LCQ (not even close actually), so their bid for franchising is gonna be with what they got.

If Gen.G get a slot over DRX or Damwon, I'm going to be pissed. They've actually been one of the most frustrating orgs to watch over the past year since they've done literally nothing and wasted tons of money. They get no viewership playing their T2 tournaments in NA and won't invest in KR, even though it would be cheaper than signing a bunch of NA paycheck stealers. At least an organization like T1 has been making the right moves recently, but Gen.G is just wasting money.

I personally don't believe slots will be region based, Gen.G is technically and fundamentally an American org not Korean.

DRX and Damwon I would have to believe are locks. If Damwon doesn't get in I stop following Valorant esports, simple as that.

My question is whether or not Gen.G even wants an APAC slot, or are they getting an NA slot.

Stop saying that. T1 imported Xeta, Sayaplayer and Munchkin to NA. That's a huge W for the Korean Valorant scene. I will be hoping they get a NA slot so that I can cheer for Xeta and Munchkin in NA.

GenG is an American org, why are you talking like they have some responsibility to "save" a scene?

I just don't understand what's their gameplan. Is it an APAC slot or a NA slot?

To me, I wouldn't be surprised if out of nowhere GenG gets a NA franchise slot and nobody knows why.

The most macho move would be if Gen.G gets Asia franchise spot, buys out forsaken after PRX disbands, buys out Seoldam, and gets 3 extra cracked players from APAC, sprinkle in Korean management and coaches, and assemble APAC's first superteam like EMEA's Fnatic.

It's a shame Jing is going military because he would also be on the team.

I honestly think FaZe has good chance of getting in if we look purely on the social and financial side of things. Their tournaments results are lacking though, and who knows what Riot's real criteria are.

Could be to get a slot you need to know the phone number of the league's commissioner and have had fancy dinner with him over some expensive wine.

FaZe also don’t exactly have the greatest image as an organization over the past few years though, which Riot care a lot about

Does gen g actually have any achievement in and out of valorant that warrants them a spot over other orgs? T1 sucks in valorant but at least they win in LoL. DAMWON is a world champion and also invests in the KR R6/Valorant scene. DRX is basically the Korean valorant scene. All Gen. G has is capital.

Jinggg has mandatory military service, f0rsaken wants a higher salary closer to that of NA teams, and some people were saying that Benkai may retire. The organization won’t make it into franchising whether they stick together or not.

Top 3 in the first masters, then it went downhill quick. Especially with the new coach they have been ass. Gen G does have a decent performing GC team and did a GC tournament recently, so maybe that helps. I don't think Riot will look at how good a team is now, when partnerships are for a few years. And everything will change in the team with transfers when that new league comes, so they have a better chance of getting better players.

But there are like 5/6 teams that are basically lock in's for NA anyway (SEN, 100T, OpTic, C9, TSM), unlikely they will get in. They have to fight with NRG, XSET, FaZe, V1

both these teams wouldn't make tier 1 unless they get franchising. T1 with everything they invested and their commitment to staying in NA will pretty much get a spot in NA. They stay in NA because they see its more profitable longterm obviously , but Valorant scene in korea just won't see much growth unless fans actually watch and with orgs that are more known in korea they would (I'm saying this based on both orgs investment in Riot Korean LoL team and LoL is huge in korea). Just look at how stack NA teams are , if it wasn't for franchising there's no way T1 or Gen G would make it to the top 10.
