Guys, I wanted your opinion, what do you think of the franchise system next year, I'm very excited on the one hand and sad on the other, because very good teams will be left out anyway, tell me what you think

Mixed.

I think the idea is good, but it will suck initially due to the lack of team spots. As the scene grows over time, hopefully they will add more slots.

On the other hand, I actually kinda like the system that’s in place right now since it allows random teams put together to have a more or less direct path to becoming pro. If they can somehow implement this feature into the franchise system it would be pretty cool.

if they allow VCT to continue granting slots to S-tier events this problem would be mitigated. if they do this, in my opinion, they should do 4 slots one for each for: APAC,BR/LATAM, NA, EMEA. And they should increase S-tier events size from 12/16 teams to 24.

I really hope they don't exclude the other teams that stay out of the franchises as this could end the competitive just like it was in overwatch

They need something for T2 teams and teams that are not included in franchising for talent to grow like it has been. Maybe something like EMEA's VRLS.

It will seem awful at first because we will lose a ton of teams, and great players will have nowhere to go, but in 5-10 years, we'll remember pre-franchising like the "immature days" of Valorant. I think we'll get a lot more matches too so that'll be really nice.

The teams you "lose" already make close to nul impact in the current VCT set up. As long as there is a good Tier 2 competition, with VRL's it will be fine.
The times of a free agent team making it in VCT or getting picked up are already long gone and for smaller teams to make impact in VCT there have been almost no examples this season.

The first point is definitely not true in NA. TSM, Faze, NRG, Ghost, these are all importnat teams in NA that very likely will not make franchising.

You're smoking if you think TSM wil not make it, NRG has chance as 6th but that's harder yea. Ghost only had 1 good period in 2 seasons can't really say they are important yet, every VCT round had a team like that. Faze might miss out yea if the org is really financially doing as bad as it seems

Come back to this comment when they choose franchising teams. My guess is C9, 100T, TGRD, EG, and T1 plus one or two more from NA.

I think in the short term it will give us much more competition consistently, but they really should make the franchise system larger and make it from 10 teams to something like 15. Also, they really need to make VRLs or some type of Tier 2 competition that actually makes orgs want to stay in the Tier 2 scene, and maybe a pro/rel playoff between last place in the main league and like the top teams from the VRLs.

As long as they have a promotion/ relegation system and a t2 structure like they currently do in NA they can significantly reduce the amount of teams that end up leaving the scene. I just dont want akrew to leave or get all of their players sniped when they dont make franchising :(

I believe there will be no relegation, another structure for t2, they will definitely do it, but I really wanted them to approach more teams and not just 10 initially

having no path for teams not in frachising to make it to international events seems like a really good way to lose almost every major team that is currently playing the game that wont make it to franchising

That's why I said I'm going to be sad on the one hand because that's probably what will happen and it will really kill the investment of some organizations in the scenario and big teams will be left out this for me this is the biggest problem of franchises but in the long term the idea is good that's why i'm divided

Not a fan. I'm curious to see how Riot will implement T2 to keep it interesting for orgs that won't be franchised. I think BR scene will take a huge blow unfortunately

I'm not a fan of franchising, but it's good for game sustainability, see LoL for example

hope that if regional teams can't participate in Masters/Champions anymore, companies like ESL and Blast join in the scene to make international tier S tournaments with those regional teams where they will be able to play with the teams that will be franchising. This would really save the "tier 2" (regional) scene and with that, orgs would stay in Valo

that would be sick, but i doubt it will happen.

I think 4 years for one team is too much

I think that for the first year it's gonna look fresh and cool. But after that it turns into OWL and kills the scene. Honestly, franchising is dogshit only NA sports do that shit simply because of greed.

I would really like if theres a promotion and relegation system

I think it will be just fine, most people talk about making a promotion system but that's basically what we currently have in emea and nobody gives a shit about the team qualifies. I say it as a fokus supporter since they managed to come out on top out of dozens of teams in the VRL's and most people completely overlooked them as they weren't up to the level yet. If good teams from the regional leagues show signs of being worthy then I'm sure riot will kick one of the bad orgs in the league and put them in. After all, the whole concept of giving the spots away without pay was to make Riot be the real owner of the spots and have control on who gets in and who gets out. I would, however, like to see maybe 12-14 spots per league instead, given that there will be only three leagues in the world, having 8-10 seems very limited to me

yes i understand your point but i am still a bit hesitant because of the strong teams that will be left out this will be very sad

At first yes. But when it comes to the longevity of valorant I think it’s a good thing. The competitive scene is just going to get more and more competitive from now on. Especially in NA and brazil I think, because there is so much talent but it’s so spread out. With franchising it makes it so the “not as good” players are weeded out from the insane players. Less teams means more condensed talent. Yes, it’ll make it harder to become pro, but as a result you’ll find the players who are good enough to make it and stay.

thinking like this I agree with you in the long term we can take a lot of talent from teams that are bad but also in the short term we can lose great players who will migrate to another game due to lack of opportunity but I agree 100% in your opinion

orgs will leave the scene and washed players will stay
