the problem is there desire to only showcase 2-3 games per day with a lack of B streams. This limits their ability to hold larger tournaments than 16 because their costs would be too large only showing 2-3 games per day for a tournament system like CS:GO. Lets say they tried to use the CS:GO major format. It would take them about 28 days (not including taking breaks between each stage), as each swiss system would take 12 days, and the final playoffs would take 4. This format takes a total of 12 days in CS:GO. Riot is trying "to put the viewers first", but in turn are potentially hurting it as many teams are not able to show their skills on the main stage.

they stated 12 teams will be at next masters. I really think they should change that but they wont. All these top teams have really close margins and deserve to compete at the world stage. 12 teams is too small of a cutoff

Look at EMEA format lmfao. I think Val Esport potential is wasting this year by ass management . I prefer watching VAL to CS but cannot say the same with formats lol

sucks they changed the masters slots from 16 -> 12 :/ i get that champions is supposed to be the larger event with more teams but it wouldve been cool to see 16 at masters and maybe even more at champions. 12 is such a small amount especially when theres only 3 international events in a year

People don't realise that adding more slots will extend the tournament and reduce the level of competition. In CSGO you have teams like Imperial in Major playoffs with 5 washed up BR pros past their prime. They would get annihilated against the top 10 teams barring Liquid as they are overrated as fuck. The current format is great for the sustainability of the game. As more teams improve and get on the samr level, Riot will increase the slots based on consistent international performance by region.

I don't think so, add more slots to EU/NA won't reduce the level imo

They already announced whole thing is going to change. Pretty sure the number of teams also increases

It's funny how you think he means more spots just for NA, the point he's trying to make is that there are so many teams grinding for a spot in their region, but it is hard for them because there aren't many spots which makes teams less motivated.

It does. Less slots means only the best of the best can make it through. For Iceland, Liquid made it through as 3rd seed but they are like 4th at best in EU. If they add an extra slot, teams like Guild will make it through even though back in Stage 1 they were inconsistent and very poor barring a few maps.

Because it increases their chances to making it not necessarily improve the competition.
