Unfair EMEA format

So....10 teams are keeping their spots from the 1st open qualifier/ invite and only 2 spots are filled through VRL's. Can anyone explain me the logic for such a format?

Tier 1 EMEA teams are much better than regional competitions. Thats why only 2 places are given.

I thought EMEA as a region is more competitive than other regions.

The competition level should be high for EMEA if we are to believe that EMEA is the most competitive region. So, why are only two teams selected through VRL's?

being the most competitive region doesnt mean top 50 have the same level my bro

But, why not give them the chance. So many teams- only two slots.

only 1 of the "promoted" teams qualed and the 2nd promoted team got stomped so what makes u think that top 3-4 could have won against navi or LDNU?

You never know. Maybe results would have been as expected or, maybe some upsets.

G2 is a one dimensional team, they are actually the 5th best EU team on paper. FNC, Acend, M3C and FPX look much stronger player to player.

Maybe based on Iceland qualification but they can't maintain that playstyle for a prolonged season. Going A in Icebox everytime only works for a short tourney until people start antistrating

yeah and thats what teams do, chsngr, as mixwell said, they saw a lot of mistakes and as T1 org the normal thing is when some1 stomps u in one their best maps easily u change it g

Kinda agree, i think even though they are expected to remain the top teams they should in some form earn their spot.

Looking at NA teams some would of expected SEN and V1 to be given spots and now theres a possibilty we will see non of them because other teams showed they deserved it more

Before insulting, try to present some explanation or logic.

It is not a EU hate thread, I just want to know the reasoning for directly keeping 10 teams from Challengers 1.

it looks like they are testing a similar format that they will take on next year, minus the VRLs? with the sort of franchising leagues they'll be doing next year teams will be selected by riot so this format kinda imitates that as it keeps the "best" teams at the top whilst other teams fight in smaller leagues to have a chance to play in bigger ones.

I wish it was like NA
Top 4 stay, others fight!

NA have less t1 teams so its understandable why only 4 team stays

Is this a joke? NA has way more signed teams than EU and I don't see how youre deciding that some EU teams are t1 while some NA teams aren't when we have seen very little inter-region play.

Vrl teams can't even beat BIG which went 0-5 in the groups

I agree, I generally like the EMEA format more than NA, as there aren't any tedious open qualifiers but I wish it was only the 4 or 6 best teams who keep their spot.
