ill always say sen is best team in world but genuine question
when sen won iceland i feel like they were known as by far the best team in the world and they got a lot of recognition.
how come when gambit won a bigger event i feel like they barely get any credit as the best team in the world and not very many people talk about them as much as iceland.
+1 sen were 100% said to be number one because they had a close game vs fnatic, now gambit win a bigger and harder lan but they're average because sentinels are allowed a bad tournament :P
remembering gambit lost a close game to fnatic in the match to qualify to iceland, there could have definitely been a world where gambit win both iceland and berlin, but for sen, they weren't even close
There were 2 na and 2 emea teams in Iceland, no VS either, literally a mickey mouse lan. Calling sen "by far" the best team in the world because they won a lan with 3 actual opponents is pretty stupid, Berlin was waaay better in terms of participants' quality. 7ssk7 can dominate a lan in my town, doesn't make him the best player in the world.
If Gambit won Fnatic they would've won Reykjavik, 1 loss means nothing because Fnatic is a team of much lower caliber (look where they are now)
Gambit had tendency to underperform against EU tier1 opposition, but if they overcame it that playoffs day - SEN wouldn't stand a chance at LAN
You saw it this time during Stage 3, as the tournament unfolded Gambit have been building the better version of themselves and slowly turning into real Scrimbit
Too bad Riot gave us only 2 slots back then, cuz if it was 3 we would possibly witness another team lifting Masters 2 trophy

As you see, you cannot alter things that happened in the past. Therefore, your 'ifs' and 'buts' are not valid at all. Gambit lost to Fnatic, case closed. At that time Fnatic were much better. Sentinels won Iceland. Gambit won Berlin. Instead of making up scenarios which is not possible, it is better to hope that Scrimbit win Champions instead.
I know a lot of NA fans ride on copium but this is a bit of copium overdose if you ask me.

Gambit could've lost to Liquid at past EMEA Finals too, Liquid had a match point on Icebox 3v2 man advantage, nats got somewhat lucky with the timing to get the kill and made the situation 2v2, and Gambit won that round and later the series.
But what if nats missed that timing? He dies, 1v3 man disadvantage for the boys, Gambit lose, everyone heartbroken, and history of whole Valorant changes... Some another team is getting the Masters 3 trophy.
My point is that it could be the same against Fnatic, I'm not saying it is 100% but you see what happened with this Liquid situation, the sickest comeback from being down bad in lower bracket to winning everything in the end.
I think the reason SEN got recognition for being "number 1" was because they won without dropping a map, which at an international tournament is obviously a big deal. I think the reason Gambit is getting as much of a recognition in comparison was because they did throw some games cough cough 100t cough cough. But i do think gambit rn are the best team
Idk the format in champions but if there's double elim in playoffs it will be an insane tournament in terms of quality, nv played like shit in the finals(whiffing on second half of haven and the whole split game) which is not really characteristic of them, they can do better this time. Top 3 will be stacked af.
impression of best team is driven by public perception. sentinels had by far the strongest social presence and had tenz, the player everyone was touting as “best player in the world by far”
hell you can even look at vlr forum stats lmao, there are almost 2x the number of SEN flairs than there are the next most popular team
obviously they got hyped harder. people say “it’s because they didn’t drop a map” but in reality sen had multiple close maps and the overall strength of teams at iceland was nowhere near comparable to berlin

social media presence, EU pros bar mixwell, scream... are barely able to reach 500 viewers on twitch, they dont get that much attention, NA players have way more marketing than EU pros, who wants to watch random noname eu kids with fucked up english speaking on their own countries language most of the time? that doesnt really attract the general fan tbh
Gambit dropped the match against acend in emea playoffs to berlin but since then they leant their mistake so quick and improved on it and end up being a champion of emea. the same exact thing happened to berlin. if they lose they improved on the mistake as quick as you can't think. gambit is hardworking team. won't be surprised if they win again.

Sure Sentinels didn't drop a map, they were in top form... they werent in top form in Berlin
I think Gambit is considered the best team in the world its just not talked about as much. I wont say their performance was as dominant as Sentinels but some of their wins were just almost embarrassing to the other team ( right Carlos? )
Gambit in form will take a team like Sentinels in form to beat sure 100T beat them and they rallied like crazy to get back in it, it was inspiring to watch but if we're being honest part of that is big mental go boom on Gambit which you can credit 100T for putting them in that position, but I feel like Sentinels don't tend to crumble to that degree, though I cant say I was super enthusiastic about their performance in Berlin.. hopefully TenZ is sharpening up his Raze. Let's be honest though as far as NA teams NV looked great.
